Just made the switch to E85…
Before we know it, the E85 conversion is going to be the premier upgrade for all EVOs. First, it was the mail-in flash. E85 next...? I only have one E85 station in my location and luckily it's only five miles from my house. I plan on getting this done as soon as I can but Uncle Sam comes first. I wish I had a little more information on what exactly I need in order to get map switching with the E85 conversion.

Hop over to the the ECUflash section of this sub-forum and read up on the Tephra 5.x ROM mod. I'm on 5.1 and it works like a charm. You can actually have any combination of two different tunes stored in your ECU ROM flash file. I have a 91 octane tune as the normal tune and the E85 tune as my alternate tune. I had a professional tuner do mine.

I was curious about how much I was really getting with 93-octane as compared to what I've been reading about the MPG rating for E85. I really wanted to see for myself if the benefits were worthwhile. I put 11.4 gallons of 93-octane in my car costing $3.73/gallon for a total of $42.75. I drove the car until it was nearly dry for 188 miles which means I was made 17.1 miles per gallon. Currently, E85 costs $2.99/gallon and by using the simple constant of 11.4 gallons, it would cost me $32.89. By using your 13.6MPG average, that would put me right at 155 miles per tank for a difference of 33 miles overall and saving $9.86 per tank. Granted, I'll have to fill up sooner but I look at it this way. With the $9.86 per tank that is saved, I can buy roughly 3.3 more gallons of E85. Using the same 13.6MPG average, means that I can drive an additional 44 miles which is 11 miles farther with E85 versus 93-octane. I'm not trying to say this is Gospel by any means. I was only comparing to how I drive (w/wo E85) to get a rough mileage comparison. To me, it seems as if E85 is a win-win combination because all it takes is a little patience heading back to the gas station.
Jim, you might want to turn the boost down a tad out there...

For now the contract mobile speed radar is only in Phoenix. I hope it stays there!
I do have a photo traffic light a couple miles from my house.
