CES eth content sensor installed, flex fuel patch coming soon
Yes - I do a lot of driving in areas where E85 is not always readily available and often have to fill up with 91 without to running the tank dry before switching to my Alt map. Usually this means running too lean on my E85 map or too rich on my 91 map. The flex fuel patch would save constantly having to tweak fuel map, timing, WGDC and injector scaling to deal with the variation in octane rating.
Since I'm still learning how to tune this makes it really hard for me as well. For instance. Last week the Evom post said there was an E85 station in long beach. Needless to say this was false and I had to fill up with pump gas. The big problem was I had to fill up with pump gas with 2.5 gal of e85 in my tank because I drove over 1.3 hours before I saw my first gas station and I was virtually on rempty. This option motivates me to tune tremendously. I hate draining my tank then having to dispose the extra fuel I have. I also don't think my tunes are up to par so it makes it even worse when I have mixed fuel(I don't drive the car in boost at all when I do).
Hi guys,
Unfortunately it seems to be bad news for flex fuel patch.
Last time I have been in contact with donner was about two months ago. The patch has never went out to public as far as I know and now it seems that the only place you can get it is commercial rally shop in Finland who sells flex fuel conversion for Evos (http://www.printsport.fi/kauppa/prod...kqhmsbro2c6247). They also don't give you the XML and there are only a few dyno shops that can do the mapping if stock maps are not good for you.
Last time I was in contact with donner I asked several times if the patch is commercial or free to distribute but never got answer for that question. I'm still waiting, if you are reading this...
I'm very sorry guys that I have wrote some messages "promoting" this and I'm very upset how this turned out in the end. I always had the impression that this patch/ROM will be freely distributed, otherwise I would never have put any of my time testing and giving development help to it
I hope somebody would have time and skills to write a free version if things don't change with this. I'm happy to help and I can even write a document to describing the operation of the patch if needed to help the work provided that it will never be used commercially anywhere.

For people who are interested about status of this patch, at this moment I prefer watching my beautiful baby girl to learn smiling than coding. This does not mean development is over (actually far from that) but I just don't have time for this like I used to have and porting code to other roms takes more time and there is also other related things to test. If someone is not happy with this and does not understand that family overrides hobbies (and of course want this patch right now) I recommend you find some time from your life and start learning how to do this on your own
With that said, one more 8859 tester needed in the near future (unfortunately with unconfirmed schedule and I expect tuning experience like with 9653).
Those who asked about the black box. It is PIC microcontroller based frequency to voltage converter similar to Zeitronix ECA but without display. So ethanol content information is fed to the ECU as analog voltage signal.
My own implementation is now available for Evo 8 ECU (96530706)

I think its been 6 years since I started this thread and no progress. Pretty bad. I know I can do it, but I'm so dedicated to running full time E85, its just never become a priority.
