E-85

Hello Guys.

Eventually sometime next year I would like to convert my Set-Up to E-85.

I have heard from a few people that certin parts in the fuel system may have corrosion issuse because of the Fuel.

I drive an Evo IX and I was wondring what would be the Ideal Set-Up for E-85 on a 30r size Turbo. Inj, Fuel Pump Ect. Ect.

Also is it Possible to have a Dual Map for the Stock Ecu to switch back and fourth from E-85 to 93 Oct.

Thanks In Advance.

Kris.

Check out this forum. It will give you all of the information you could need on E85. Don't confuse methanol with ethanol for corrosion. Totally different when it comes to breaking down lines, etc.

The map switch is deff possible. I haven't heard of corrosion issues yet and a lot of guys are running the stuff, I have heard of injector clogging due to the E85 cleaning all the sludge out of the system.

A dual pump setup would be recomended but is dependant on the power you want to make. I run the blaqops progressive kit. As far as injectors go that is also HP related, a set of fic1450's should be more than enough and give you plenty of room while still being good for the 93.

Thank you very Much guys. This is def some good information.

So usually it's the Methenol that has the corrosion issues not the ethanol. (Noted)

I will Check out the Blaq Ops Kit.

Please keep it coming I would like to hear the opinions.

Does '30R size turbo' refer to what is on the car right now, or something you have planned?

May be able to get away with a Bosch 044 working in tandem with a Walbro. Run 1600's just in case.

Thank you for that link it was very informative.

From the looks of it all i Really need is a Lap Top, Injectors, Fuel Pump, and maybe an inline fuel filter just incase. and then have my car tuned with the tephra mod for both fuels.

I'm looking at power inbetween 450 and 500. Going to run a Bosch and FIC 1100 (The injectors made for E85). Map says they are rated for 500-600HP.

Kris,

I have not seen any negative effects from e85 on our fuel systems personally, and I have probably been using it longer then anyone here..

For the 30r setup, I would follow in the footsteps of Ben's car , he was the guy that got 1st place in the shootout last year. He is still on the stock longblock (stock cams,tb,intake manifold, ect.) and with his buschur 3065 cast manifold kit he is running 10.6's consistantly at ~133mph with no weight removal.

1. Doublepumper kit from buschur ect.
2. RC1200 injectors (my preference)
3. Typical supporting mods, definitely a tial BOV

Having the alt map is fine but don't expect to just switch maps and instantly go WOT for the new fuel.. The tuned need to be done seperately with the purest mixtures as you would see from the pump so if you have a 1/2 and 1/2 tank of gas and e85 you might want to take it easy. Definitely not a switch and go type thing..

You dont need the laptop unless you plan on tuning yourself. ALTmaps can be setup so all you have to do is hold the gas to the floor for a set amount of time to switch between them.

Pete that's Great to hear. I'm glad that you're not having problems with your set nor is your friend. I Seen Bens car on the track and the thing Moves!

Looks like that turbo on e-85 is not bad at all. What did he make on E-85 and that turbo?

Just wondering what does he do when the colder weather drops? Does the map have to adjusted? I have heard that they tend to use different Enthanol in the winter time?
