Wanting to make the switch to E85
Hi guys, I am wanting to make the switch to E85 but just have some questions. I have a 2003 Evo 8 with 103k miles. My current mod are Intake, exhaust, cams, cam gears, upgraded intercooler, 750cc injectors, walbro 255 fuel pump and a Tomei arms m7960 turbo. I am currently making about 330Whp. I will be getting Precision 1200cc and a E85 tune from AWD Motorsports. My question is will I be able to reach 420-450 WHP Reliable with current mileage reliably?
You should be able to hit 420 whp easy. Ask your tuner to keep torque below 375 when the turbo hits for reliability and you'll be fine. I pushed it over 400 wtq on a stock bottom end and blew my # 2 big end bearing out at 80,000 miles. If you want more then build it!
Reliability = How much do you beat the car?
If you just do some pulls here and there or some canyon runs or whatever light it should be fine but if you are tracking and running it into the ground then engine might go out a little sooner than later. Maybe do a compression test as well. E85 in general is pretty safe to run and runs cooler with a lot of knock protection.

I'm confused. In another thread you mentioned that you have been making 452 whp on E85 for 3 years without any issues.

Im curious about this. I just spoke to Dan @ AMS and he told me to stay away from E85 and sent me an article about it. Wanting to make the switch for the obvious reasons: more power and cheaper at the pump! Any suggestions?
I went all out pure E85 but you can also get a dual map for like $100 more so you can run E85 or Pump gas. I don't regret it, I just made the switch a couple of weeks ago and it's amazing.
Mind sharing that article with the rest of us?
Ya interested why to stay away from E85. I know some people believe it eats fuel lines but I've never seen a case of that. The fuel savings are negligible since you lose about 20% of your fuel economy on average just using E85.

that's right.Devin from boostin told me to switch between maps once in 3 months to keep injectors clean and you good to go.
