On Pump gas I was having problem starting my evo after 2 weeks of down time. Same idea goes for boats. You don't turn on an outboard every couple of weeks to a month and you will sure have problems.

Regular pump gas shouldn't give you a problem after 2 weeks or 2 months. I have issues starting my car after letting it sit longer then a week and half to 2 weeks. Usually its battery related. Although this last time the car wouldn't turn over after trying a bunch of times. I tried start 0 minutes later and it fired right up but had a crank code weirdly enough.

Good read, I'm in the military so my car sits around for wks to months at a time. Guess I won't be using e85 on my build. My k20 integra was in storage for 3 months on 93 and it started right up when I went to go get it.

Injector Dynamics (the ones that wrote that article) have all stainless internals so they are resistant to corrosion. I brought a set of the 1300s for my car. I haven't put them in yet or been tuned on E85. ETS told me these are the best injectors for E85. They're a bit pricy, but I've heard nothing but good things about them.

did you have to replace anything other than fuel pump or injectors to run e85? I really want to make the switch myself

Good discussion, just wanted to add a few helpful bits...

Our sources at Bosch have indicated that all Bosch gasoline injectors of similar design use similar alloy valves internally, which are resistant to corrosion and fine for use with E85.
If any injector actually used a fully stainless valve then it would not be magnetic, and it wouldn't work since it wouldn't respond to the signal it receives that causes it to open and close.

Our 900cc and 1100cc injectors are hugely popular with E85 and do a great job with it. Of course we have other sizes available as well depending on your power goals but that seems to be the size range being discussed here.

With all of that said, E85 is hygroscopic by nature and no matter what injector you use, it is a good idea to take proper care and precaution with it. If your car is going in to storage for a length of time, or you ever remove your injectors and have them exposed to open air, we recommend the following:

I'll try to keep an eye on the thread in case anyone has any questions that I can help with.

It depends on what type of stainless steel is used. 400 series is magnetic, where 300 series is not, except for 304. Regardless, the illustation you provide for storage or non-daily driven is a great way to protect your injectors.
Curious, using E85 how long have you seen injectors go without being cycled, before they start to corrode? If they stayed stagnant for a week, a month?
I run RC1000 for the past six years, and the only time I had the "Gunk" was the first six months, after that it never returned. I did the DIY cleaning method you show in your instruction and seems to work well. I will need something bigger down the road and your Bluemax series seams like a great choice.

Unless you commute lol... I was loving life when e85 was $1.00 cheaper than 91. Now, not so much

Hi,

First I have to say that this is 100% commercial message. Sorry about that. But we have designed new kind of E85 Ethanol Conversion Kit called eFlexFuel. It works with ethanol sensor so it is 100% automatic. Ethanol sensor recognizes instantly fuel mixture if its gasoline, E85 or any mixture of the two. You donīt have to worry about engine fault codes or any adjustments. eFlexFuel is also first in the world to have an adaptive cold enrichment function and mobile connection option for monitoring ethanol content, duty cycle or temperature via Android device.

eFlexFuel has been tested in multiple different U.S., European and Asian vehicles during the development process. Kit is suitable from over 500hp high performance engines to small one cylinder motorcycle engines.

Check out http://eflexfuel.com if you are interested. If you have any questions please contact from website.
