e85 qucik questions

cannot seem to find the answers

I want to tune e85 sometime in January, im convinced and I want to do it, I like how it cleans the engine thats sweet.

Local tuner says I need the grimspeed 3 port boost solenoid for a dual map conversion? Is this true, I only ask because if I want to go on a road trip with my car I want to switch to 93 and once I get to my destination I will put e85 back in. "CURRENTLY RUNNING HALLMAN PRO BOOST CONTROLLER"

Im planning on purchasing a new wide band soon, but If I dial out the idle ltft and mid ltft without boost and set the scaling right do i need a wide band to confirm the afrs are correct for cruise if I want to run close loop? Or do I need to do open loop?

I have all the mods required 1000cc and 255 walbro fuel pump, I know how to tune.

just need these 2 questions answered. I did research and keep seeing the same questions "what is needed to convert...

How many miles on the car? I would be prepared to go through a few sets of injectors. That cleaning process you are fond of requires all that gunk to go somewhere. Yes, you will need to have a electronic boost controller for map switching. Oh BTW I doubt a single 255 is going to do it. I would think Wideband and a 4 bar maps sensor would be all requirements. Might think about a good Ethanol content analyzer too. Good luck. It's worth it.

Sounds like youre close to ready

Your 1000cc injectors, Walbro 255, 3-port solenoid & the dual maps (TephraMod) & youre set
Will you be flashing in Tephra 7 or 5 for your dual maps?
Not sure about the open/closed loop question. Im not a self tuner

Also, the gunk issue is caused by PIB in the 15% gas. We have a thread dedicated to it. Basically you just want to flush your engine w/the normal high octane gas periodically to flush out the gunk then switch back

Well since I need a 3 port for dual

Can i use a boost controller to run solely on e85 and when i get my 3 port boost solenoid copy all my 3 85 fuel, timing and inhector maps over to the alternate on the tephra?

I want to get this done possibly in 2 weeks

You'd be better off posting this up in the Engine Mgnt forum. This sub forum is a bit sleepy

You do not need to change boost controllers, you simply need to re-adjust the boost with the controller you have when you switch between fuels…..

I'm not sure what you mean that it cleans the engine. Can you explain or links to what you mean.

As Buschur mentioned you do not need a 3 port to run dual maps. I ran a mbc for a few years on dual maps, but now run a hybrid set up.

Yes, you need a WB to confirm the AFR's. Even if the LTFT's say 0 or close to 0 the o2 sensor maybe off. It's hard to confirm without a WB.

There is a thread when a guy ran e85 and it cleaned is motor within 3 years and he checked his parts everything looked good. But that's over time though.

I will buy a wideband sensor and and convert during christmas week
