Thinking of making the switch

I live in Vancouver, canada. We're getting our first e85 station here pretty soon and i'm thinking of making the switch.

I'd want a flex fuel setup as we would only have one station here, and if they stop carrying it, I don't want to be left high and dry.

Other than a flex fuel sensor and an aem ems v2 or infinity, what else would i need?

Current mods are:

FP BLACK Ball Bearing Turbocharger
PPI ported exhaust manifold
3" Ported O2 housing
AMS Intercooler
Precision Injected 1000cc injectors
EXEDY Twin Disc Clutch/Flywheel
Forced Performance Air Intake Pipe
Bloxs air intake filter
Beehive Valve springs
Aftermarket lower intercooler pipe
Full 3 inch exhaust from downpipe, test pipe to exhaust
Walbro 255 fuel pump

I have a pair of GSC S3's waiting to be put in as well.

Thanks for your help!

Depending on what your power goals are you're probably going to need some bigger injectors. Fuel pump will be limited aswell. I live in Ontario and will be making the switch to E85 shortly.

Goal would be no more than 600, as I'm still on the stock block for now. I don't dd it, just drive it on the weekends with the occasional track day coming up.

All you really need is a stock ECU Tephra V7 conversion and a good dual map tune. It has TPS map switching. That is what I have and it literally takes 10 seconds to change from 93 to E85 and back.

Wouldn't that only work if he ran the tank completely empty?

If he has a 1/3 tank of E85 left and decides to fill the other 2/3 with 92 PON map switching won't work because it's mixed...he needs a flex fuel setup for that not so?

Don't go ***** to the wall and you will be fine basically with any mixture and not have to worry. I have ran every possible combination on my personal car, even done WOT pulls with several gallons of one fuel and the rest of the tank with the other fuel.

Plan your trips accordingly and you also will not have to worry.

If he just wanted to run dual maps he could with the stock computer. You would have two options, you could drain the fuel tank in between the 2 diff fuels or get close to E and fill up with other fuel and just drive the car and not do any WOT pulls until that tank of gas is completely gone....then refill with the same fuel and get to business.

all this is why i'm not much of an e85 fan. we only have one pump within about 50 miles of my city. it's a pain in the *** to plan around fill ups.

for those that have pumps everywhere they drive? lucky. that would be GREAT.

I think if i were in your shoes I would hold out for a little while longer until more stations in your area become equipt with E85. However if you dont drive it much anyway I see no harm in it especially since the gains using it are so large.

On another note It seems most people with a standard walboro 255 run a double pump system with common size injectors around 1400cc....

depends on WHP goals. i made the numbers in my sig with a single 255 and 1050s. to break into the 500s, however, i will need a double pump setup.

Thank you. Or thank my tuner, that is LOL. I'm just short of it's limit. It won't do much more but I'm happy with the numbers. I'll be stepping up to a larger injector, though. The 1050s are maxed as well.

I'm a firm believer of only upgrading when I need to.

Unfortunately, my budget wouldn't allow for that LOL. Plus, in my experience, the more simple and OEM I can keep things, the more reliable it is/less maintenance/more driving.
Also, for every dollar I don't waste on something unnecessary, it's a dollar towards something else I can enjoy. Or, in the case of or cars: hundreds of dollars LOL.
