We need some "how to's"
I'm much better at working on cars then I am a computer. How about getting some HOW TO threads started for the computer challanged people like myself. A few things I would like to do are:
stationary rev limiter adjustment
rev limit adjustment
timing adjustment
stationary rev limiter adjustment
rev limit adjustment
timing adjustment
I'm sure they will turn up... Fortunately the ones you just asked for are easiest, their all right in the definitions already, and you just update the value for those three, and write it back to your ECU (After saving the original somewhere so you don't lose it)
If you notice the stationary rev limit value on the earlier EVO is set for something like 7980 or something just above the engine's rev limit... So its effectively not enabled, if you wanted it to be 5500, you would change it to 5500.. Same with the rev limit adjustment, it can be adjusted in the same manner.
Timing is a little different and we're all still getting used to how these maps relate to engine load, but that will turn up very soon.

When I check the box to edit the field I get an error message that says: "the current map description is invalid or incomplete. Please edit the map description to fix the problem and the map will be viewable again."
I D/L'ed Noodles 280 map and noticed that his I am able to edit like you described.

You probably have an ECU with a version of the firmware that does not yet have a complete definition file for it.. You should post about that so the guys writing the defs can create one appropriate to the version.

Go to the download page and follow the instructions on how to read out your ROM and send it in so we can add it to our database. This way we support as many ECUs as possible.

this might be related to the unsupported ECU thing, but I saved my stock ROM file in the same directory I have other ROM files saved. If I go into the directory to open the ROM with ECUFlash the file doesn't exist. It also has a different extension then the other files I have saved.
Again I don't know if this is related to the issue MalibuJack mentioned but I figured I would mention it just in case.

a "how to modify your current obdii interface cable to work for flashing with this software" how-to would be nice.
The post from the big thread that says "All cables have ID's for the software" seems a bit strange, unless I am misunderstanding what that statement meant.

Find the file in explorer, rename it so it has a .hex or .bin at the end and you should see it.
