Can you link to the evo 8 stock rom, and also is this what I need to run/load to read the ecu?

That is the stock O3 Rom.. YOU MUST RETRIEVE YOUR IMMOBILIZER CODE FROM YOUR ECU'S MAP AND PUT IT INTO THE ROM before you flash it onto your car..

Try to read through the entire group of threads in this subforum.. The question your asking implies to me that your looking for the ECUFlash program, and some instruction on how to do it.. Please learn as much as you can before you modify your ECU...

Appreciate it jack, I know this isnt the thread for stuff like this but I appreciate it, and this is my dad's car, I am aware it won't work on mine that is ecutek'd.

You seem to have a driver problem... Also check to make sure your configuration setting for the port is for the OpenECU cable and not a COM port..

And I actually may have some new data on backing up a tune from a locked ECU..

Also jack PM that info/link/contact person if its you just lmk about that information about how to get info out of a locked ecu.
