Logging boost with EvoScan

Is it possible? At first i thought you could but my car was only reading 14.1psi on the baraometer.

Or is that my actual boost?

The barometer reading is the outside air pressure. Evoscan does not log boost. You need a seperate boost gage.

UK/JDM IXs do log boost from the car's MAP sensor in Evoscan if you edit the xml file. It is a nice sensor, goes over 30 PSI boost.

The barometer is also in the MAF sensor, the difference is that the reading drops when you are high revs/load, whereas a baro reading from outwith the intake system would not.

Can the JDM MAP sensor be installed on the USDM Evo 8 and use it to log boost? Is the harness plug the same? That would be great if it works.

I have an Innovate LM-1 and I have a 3 bar GM MAP and I am logging and viewing my boost. But It will be a much cleaner approach if the JDM MAP sensor would work. You do not have to tap into your existing MAP harness and get a wire to the MAP sensor. Just swap the JDM MAP sensor and log the MAP from the OBD2 port. Very clean and very easy.

Well, I have the sensor part number, trying to source the part from Japan or Taiwan for a reasonable price. I do know that the sensor would have to be recalibrated, and I have not yet found the map v to bar translation table yet.. Since it exists in the JDM ECU it will likely also be in the USDM ECU and be fairly easy to calibrate by copying the values once the map is found.

Malibu - You might want to try giving RRE a call. They have been dealing with JDM OEM Mitsu pieces for several years.

What do your VIIIs read when you are at about atmospheric on the MAP input? I've previously posted the scaling of the JDM sensor, with a 5V supply this scaling should work. It is just if your ECU doesn't anything with the values that you'd need to work on scaling.

I have a contact in Japan that I have been using for three years. PM me if you want me to check on what price I can get.
