EGT - a tuning parameter?

just wondering how many who tunes with ecuflash use EGT? I'm getting a zeitronix and wondering if its worth the trouble drilling/tapping the exhaust mani.

I've always looked at EGT as a safety parameter, rather then something you can really fine tune with.

We always use EGT. It is imperative with meth injection also to assess the health of the system and insure adequate FLOW VOLUME.

Also an egt is a good way to keep your eye on what is happening inside your motor. If the temp starts to climb higher than normal you know something is not right so let off especially the egt gauges with the warning light, you cant miss that led if gauge is in front of you and your eyes are on the road

MitsubishiLogger logs a parameter called EGRTemp - is this the same thing or not? Can't see how it can be unless stock car had a sensor somewhere. I'm sure someone can clear it up :-)

EGR temp is something different.. Its not a useful parameter for tuning..

What if you already have an EGT gauge with a warning light? Would it be worthwhile to log EGT in addition to the gauge or just a waste of resource?

If you can log EGT's it might give you some insight into your tune.. But its not necessary, do a search on google about tuning with EGT's to get an idea of what the temp means.. We don't generally tune by EGT's any longer, but the data used in conjunction with AFR is worthwhile.
