So while i agree with you that its sometimes frustrating to figure anything out through all the techno-gadgetry going on here, i doubt anyones going to write you a "Tuning your car "for dummies"" book anytime soon.

My train of tought

Okay so based on the posts, this is more of less what I have understood in tems of tuning A/F

Even though cell 220 at 4000 rpms is where I am hitting peak boost (this was not a completer pull btw) wouldn't it be a good idead to reach my desired target A/F
lets say load cell 160-180 ? why or why not?

Im going to do a 3rd gear pull right now (actuallt 3 ) and post them here. this was you guys can tell me when I am doing right or wrong and the rest of the community newbs like me can learn something new would that be okay?

Subscribed - excellent thread - I can't contribute much, but I can definately learn from it. Many thanks to l2r99gst, MalibuJack, tkklemann & others who unselfishly contribute so much to the EVO communiity.

Yeah read that thread. And it is very useful. but we could learn so much more on how to properly tune our cars.

-I guess we could learn to read our logs better so that we could transfer what we find to our maps.
-If there are techniques on how the experienced tuners interpret there logs that would be a great help.

It's not a problem to reach your desired AFR at the 160 area, but you can benefit from a leaner mix on spool up. It will help the turbo spool faster.

I generally aim for the ideal fuel mix up until about 200 load ... that would be between .83 and .88 lambda (or 12.2:1 or 12.8:1 AFR for gasoline) for a turbo car. This lets the engine get as much power from the fuel mix as possible and uses it to aid in spooling the turbo.

This is an example of a conservative AFR curve for 91 octane ...

On the fuel map, where is the Spool up section, also doesn the Ix come with spool lean which will lean it a whole 1.0 unit?

my understanding it that the turbo beging to spool when i hear the slow wooosh right?

the spool up section depends on the gear, the turbo and some other things ... on a stock turbo car it's generally from 100 load to 180 or 200 load.

Don't worry about lean spool or what the numbers in the map say ... pay attention to the actual AFR that is being produced.
