Yes. My logs usually show that 3rd is about .6 leaner than 4th across the board.

Quick update

Did a similiar pull at lunch which proved that the tune is almost there I have a small 2 count knock at the low rpms which quickly die. I've made hopefully the last adjustments to this map for zero or very close to zero knock. I smoothed a area out where the timing went up and down a little. I also made some changes for cold starts where i was getting low load knock counts only around 2.

Just as a side note I've realized that the stock timing map is actually quite a few points higher than the map I'm running right now

I may replace the ignition map with the stock map just for a kicks and giggles test.

Increase 1* in ur timing cells based on ur load from 4k rpm -5k rpm and 2* on all load cells after 5k.

Log 1 run in 4th please. at the Least 3k - 6.5.k

Will do,

I'll try to get you a log in 4th but you do realize what crazy mph that is :P Its difficult to find roads where i can actually do that without really being stupid.

Its essential since the Wideband reads most accurate in 4th and the engine is in most load and pressure.

It does not matter what gear you tune in, weither it be 3rd or 4th, but consider this. IF you are tuning in 4th gear, make sure you tune for a AFR of about 10.9:1. This will insure you don't run too lean in 1-2nd gear. If you tune AFR's for 11.5:1 in 3rd gear, you will run a little leaner in 1-2nd, but will run 11.5:1 in 3rd gear, and even richer in 4th and 5th. It's important that you do it this way.

Say you tuned for 11.5:1 in 4th gear, you will be way too lean in 1st and 2nd and maybe even third. 4th will be in the 11.5:1 range and 5th will be in the low 11s.

So, tune your AFRs for your target AFR in 3rd gear, this will ensure a good AFR in 1-2nd gears and will ensure a nice richer mixture for the higher engine load demands of 4-5th gears.

Also, a wideband will read accurate no matter what gear you are in.

refer to this post for more information regarding gears and AFRs.

I agree with iTune. 11.5 in 4th is too lean on pump gas.

RoadSpike, if you're running 91 Octane, increase your AFR to about 11:1 in 3rd gear, then see if you can add some timing back in. 11.5 on 91 Octane is pushing it...

Already way ahead of you but thanks

After see'ing how messed up my map was becoming i decided to throw most of it back to stock and start a little wiser. It still have the block o 5's but the section underneath started "nearstock".

I did about 5 pulls this night and got all of the lower rpm problems taken care of. I now have a mild spike (2 count) at 6000 and the 200 load cell then it drops and around 6500 the load has dropped to just below 200 adding in high timing from the left and giving me a nasty knock count of 6 then jumps to 12.. yikes...

I carefully reviewed my map for the problems, apparently the timing of 10 is just hunky dorry at 200 load but then just next to it was a timing count of 17 so when my load hit 198 it added a full point of timing to the map and caused the knock. I lowered the 6k+ rpm until I have a timing of 11 at the end and next to it a near identical but slightly higher timing curve for the 180 load cell.

When time allows I'm going to give this altered timing map a shot. Plus i need to discover why my load is so low, atm I'm assuming its boost related. I have replaced the whimpy plastic BOV with the metal MR one. I still need to gather parts for a boost leak tester.
