Question for the tuning gods
For reference this is the timing map that I ran when I had my 8. Boost was set @ 20-21 psi and tapered to 17.5 by redline.

I think the upper timing may be too high for me right now with my load dropping off so fast but I'm willing to test it :P

Quick update:
Soooo close to a perfect run.
Did a 3rd gear run up hill so more load than usual knock counts reached a max of 4 for a short time then flatlined up until the high rpm. I'm betting if i back off my timing 1 degree in key places it will solve this problem.

Did a few hard runs today up hills to really stress the timing and came out mostly clean. The slower accel allowed me enough leisure to glance at the boost gauge.
In a 3rd gear pull I spike to 20-21psi then it immediately drops to 16 then climbs back up to 20 then drops again to 16 by redline. In 4th gear up to 6000rpm I don't get this wierd wavy boost flow but a nice and steady 20-19'ish boost. I'm thinking I need a MBC and pronto

I was curious to know whether your timing map is for 91 octane or 93 octane. Some of us live in California where we get the crappy 91 octane (as some say)

That may be true but Boost control is in the planned modifcations so it was just moving forward for me. Plus I'm not really sure how to tune a boost control map, the fuel and timing curves are very straight forward its the other adjustments that don't make sense to me.

I guess i could goto the station at watt and get some sunoco 100octane at what is more than rediculously high prices
. I'm not ready to do a race gas map yet.

Well I think this tune is pretty much done.
My laptop died before i could get the last pull with corrected timing so I'm posting the log with a small 3 count knock blip at low rpm, the pull is in 3rd gear up hill btw. I have the timing pulled back 1 degree in this area should it should be good.
I also played around with the boost correction and boost offset getting a more stable boost around 20-19psi. I'll even post the ROM if I can.

How did running the stock timing map work out for you?
In the last week I've had the opportunity to look at several custom tunes.
Most of them pretty much copy the load cell lower than the actual used load cell then remove 2* from 5500-7500 while keeping AFR in the 11:1 range.
I actually tried exactly that approach on my car and it worked like a top. I normally stay between 220-235 So I copied the 220 load cell into the 240 cell and the 200 into the 220 cell then removed 2* in the upper RPM range.
The car hits 6* at peak torque and comes to a nice safe 15* at redline. No knock.
I noticed your previous maps were quite tame unless you are on 91. Also I wouldn't load the car up at such a low RPM that will toss everything out of whack. 4th gear starting at 3k rpm is good. No need to lug the motor for no functional reason.

Anyways, I'm doing logging of my car here with at this time 3rd gear pulls since 4th gear puts me at speeds I simply should not be traveling at. I'm getting what appears to be large quantities of knock at around 3800 rpm then spiking against at 5700 rpm. The timing at this point is very low around 2-5 and I'm coming to wonder if what I'm seeing is spark blow out.

As stated a few times I am on California's 91 pisstane.
The stock map while workable was knock prone for me in the higher ranges plus it seemed to fall flat on its face in the midrange. I pulled up the timing a little for the midrange and for the top end I had to decrease the timing slightly to keep the car knock free.
With this tune I'm going to start trying to add in timing here and there and get a slightly more aggressive tune. I'd consider the tune I have right now a starting point despite how much work it seemingly took to get there.

I'd rather not be ticked for 120mph+ and have my car impounded.
Is there any reason I don't want to log TPS, RPM, KNOCKSUM, and TIMING ADV?
