Question for the tuning gods

This is probably pretty n00bish of me but that is the price you pay sometimes for the most valuable of information.

Anyways, I'm doing logging of my car here with at this time 3rd gear pulls since 4th gear puts me at speeds I simply should not be traveling at. I'm getting what appears to be large quantities of knock at around 3800 rpm then spiking against at 5700 rpm. The timing at this point is very low around 2-5 and I'm coming to wonder if what I'm seeing is spark blow out.

The AFR stays around 11.5 to 11.1
The car itself is pretty much stock with a 3" helix TBE, Works Cat, o2 outlet, BR headers, and drop in filter. It does not have a mbc so the boost is only going to about 20psi according to my SW gauge.

I'm a little confused why if the timing is so low on my car in comparision to some of the others here why i get such high knock counts. A log is submitted for anyone that wants to look at it.

Post your map. My guess is ur hitting lower load cells that have too much of high timing for 91 Octane

You start knocking before 3000 rpm. That is a problem. The block of 8* is more than likely the cause of the knock in the low RPM range. Once you start knocking you might as well abort the pull. Work out the knock in the lower range and work your way up.

I'll do that and get some new logs.

I'm going to bring down the entire timing table smoothly and hopefully get some clean pulls.

This is my current 91 oct map (I use Shell gas). I spent a lot of time on it and I'm pretty happy with it. I hit around 230-235 load (evoscan load calc) at around 3.5k-4k rpms (~1.4bar boost), goes up to ~245 load (1.5bar) after 4k rpms, drops down to ~205 load at 7k rpms (1.4bar).

I'm completely stock by the way. You can probably run a little bit more timing than me because you have a better flowing exhaust, i.e. less back pressure.

What year is your car? I would get a stock ROM and start the tuning over or at least the timing. Also you might want to check for boost leaks.

Based on his log his load is falling below 200 after 5k. Either fixes that taper (which can be a host of issues) or lowers the timing in the low load areas 180-200 to match closely to the 200-220 load areas.

I'll grab a MBC and run a boost leak check.

I'm actually having a similar issue on my IX. I'm getting knock in 3rd and 4th around 4500-5000. Load is around 230 and timing advance is only 1* or 2*. My timing map is completely stock. AFR's are 11.1 or so.

So, if anyone has input, I'd love to hear it as well.
