there are many tuners on this site that do awesome work, dynoflash, jester, ttp, ams, and many others, just mail them your ecu with list of mods or if you have ecu flash and a lap top they can email you a tune

To answer your question, yes it is safe. What most the tuners that do mail in flashes do is go off of past tunes that they have done with similar mods. Then they tune your ECU, however it is very conservative (Rich) to ensure that you do not blow your motor. A custom tune will get more power as it runs leaner.

A mail in flash tune is great since the factory sets EVO's to run pig rich from the get go, they just lean it out a little while still maintaining a safety margin. If you are going for big hp numbers then you want a custom tune. If you are just looking for more power for cheap then do the mail in.....

Self Dyno Tuned > Self Road Tuned > In-house Dyno tuned > House road tune > logged e-mail flash > unlogged e-mail flash > generalized mail in flash > stock

Anything is better than what you've got, but do some research before you make a decision.

wow, he fixed mine 5 months after i bought it when i finally got some logging equipment.

OP-don't forget that you can log your car after the flash and have the tuner adjust it as needed to maintain safety.

Here is the link (http://www.racevideoforums.com/forum...ead.php?t=1546) to the guy that fixed a knocking e-flash tune from a very popular tuner on this site.

I know for a fact that he is and has worked with several other evo owners that had someone else's tune in it.

My car was knocking it's tail off, he was able to remove or reduce my knock count to 1-2 counts and it made the same power (per the dll software).

I am very pleased with his customer service and tuning ability.

ok, a lot of great answer. 10x so, i need a cable, a laptop and the software (which one?). I copy my stock ecu map and send it to a tuner with the upgrades i installed, then he sends it back modified and I upload it to my ecu. is it the whole process?

Yes to your next-to-last post.

The logging equipment is the same laptop and cable you use for EcuFlash, and the software is EvoScan, which you have to purchase, but it's cheap and effective.

Or you can use Mitsulogger which is free.
