Boost and load?

Well I know that you cant directly link your load and boost levels but mine seem to be way off. Last night at the track I was seeing 27lbs of boost through my boost gauge, but the highest load I saw was 260? It seems like it should be higher then that? I was trapping 119mph on the stocker so I know the boost had to be pretty high.

With all those mods at 27 psi, I would expect a load closer to 300 at around 3500 rpm. Your boost gauge could be off.

couple things could be happening. First off, boost gauges are just about always off, unless it's a calibrated boost guage....which is very expensive so i doubt you have one.

Second, your intake could be throwing off your MAF, which scales in HZ. It's very common to see a drop in load due to the fact that ECU load is determined by MAF HZ along with other variables. If your intake throws off the way the MAF sensor is reading intake air, which results in a lower HZ reading from the sensor, you can bet your load will be calculated lower.

For instance, stock intake w/drop in filter @ 22psi spike read about 260 load, after AEM intake.....that same boost shows a lower MAF hz in boost....resulting in a load in the 240 range. This is why we tell people to make sure they re-tune after a intake change of any kind....even from brandx -brandx change......they will result in different MAF readings and will throw the tune off because of lower or higher load calculations.

now......even saying that....your load is extremly low for a "true" 27psi.....so i believe it's probably a combination of both issues.

Could also be that at the track you were always at high RPM? 260 load at high RPM is quite high, especially with an intake.

this is very true..... i was assuming he was seeing this load at peak boost, around 3500-4000rpm. If he was seeing 260 load at high revs, that would be high...

You know, I thought about that after I posted this.
