Added ebay filter, increases load by 40 under boost.

Ok, I was board over the weekend so I slapped on an Ebay adapter and filter that had been sitting in my garage for a few years. I knew I would need to adjust the tune but something seems wrong. My car puts down 505whp on the local dyno, and at 30psi the load is about 370 tappering to 310. Adding the ebay adapter and filter and lowering boost to 28psi the load jumped to 402-360. The Idle airflow did not change.

Any ideas?

need to retune,

why have you put a cheap airfilter on a 500whp car?

Higher than normal loads generally indicate a boost leak. But, if you only changed the filter, I don't see that being the issue, unless you had to mess with the charge pipes for some other reason.

I don't think the filter change would throw off the MAF reading enough on it's own to cause such drastic load changes. Intake filters usually only mess with airflow in the idle/light cruise conditions.

Before the K&N and ebay adapter I was running the stock air box with a modified lid and stock filter.

I log the car every day, to and from work. Nothing else was changed, I guess a boost leak is possible, but the load was normal before the change over.

The Ebay filter most likely threw off your MAF scaling and that is why you have the high load. Those MAF adapters have been know to mess with the MAF signal.

Also, since it threw off your MAF scaling, it will most likely throw off your long term fuel trims.

No need for a boost leak test, its easier to replace the box and run another log.

Yes the trims did change as expected, although I was not prepared for the drastic change in load. I did a lot of searching on here and did not see anyone mention the massive change in load.

You should compare the baro readings from before and after...

Baro will have a HUGE impact on load. A change in pre-MAF pressure drop will change load.
