What conditions do everyone use to log?

I was just wondering what kind of driving conditions everyone uses to log? 3rd gear pulls, 4th gear pulls, or full passes at the track? Full passes at the track would seem to be the best but you only see over 6000rpm's.

Also, when launching off the 2-step do you guys see really weird readings? I am seeing huge counts of knock, like over 20.

4th Gear for a 6 speed
3rd Gear for 5 speed or even better 4th if you can.

I do a Full drag pass on the Street to finalize the tune.

I have decreased the timing in the Load cells where the limiter is set and the knock is gone.

Thanks for the quick reply. The problem around here is there really isnt any good, safe roads to do a 4th gear pull on.

Does reducing timing at the limiter have any effect, other then to reduce knock?

Retarding timing more on the 2 step has only good effects. Not only will it reduce knock on the 2 step, but it will help build more boost, faster.

I like to get it good and hot during logging, so that If I'm out there beating on the car I know it'll have a safe tune since I do street, drag racing and autox. I typically do 3 back to back pulls in 4th gear with only the necessary items checked for logging so I get lots of data per rpm. I finish it up with some spirited driving and 1/4 mile runs to make sure everything is okay.

I actually use 3 gear pulls up a nicely graded (long) hill. Doing that, I can really load the engine...to load levels of >274% levels. My mods are HKS 264, and 3 inch turbo back with 23 psi of peak boost, dropping to 19 psi at redline...all controlled by ecuflash:

TPS -RPM -TimingAdv- -Speed- -AirFlow- -InjPulseWidth- -LoadCalc- -KnockSum-

100 -3968.75- -4- -42.3- -1226.55- -19.71- -274.23- -0-

Related to this topic, 30 mins log is better than 5 mins? With 30 mins log, lots of data can be analyze but are they good enough?

Assuming 30 mins driving include harsh and soft at various rpm, load and speed. Sorry if my question off topic but I think it's related.

sure, after making hardware or software changes it's a good idea to get some miles on it to see what the fuel trims and knock is going to do.
