OK, just to be 100% sure before I do this, I copy the definition into the .xml file, and then transfer EVERYTHING I have modified (Maps/Map values/Scalings etc..) on my current ROM to the one I downloaded from above, (0011 ROM) correct?

Hrmm, the only thin I can think of is you flashed in between these tests, and when you did the flash my memory address was overwritten with a larger value... EcuFlash only updates the needed chunks of code, which is why it takes longer to flash significant ROM changes.

What other variables are there to change? The first post FAQ has details about each of the tuning knobs.

Hi Nick, sorry I missed this one.

Yep I thought about that - I may do it...

However having a CEL flash mean two different things may be bad, I would also prefer not to distract the driver too much as well - especially at speed

what are other peoples thoughts?

I agree with you, tephra. CEL = something wrong. Don't confuse me.

If you want to make a shift light, how about illuminating all 3 of the traction control setting lights (i.e. Gravel, Tarmac, Snow?)

Yep unfortunately we (disassembly community) don't think the ACD/AYC computer is accessible via the ECU. So i'm not sure its possible yet!

Are there any other lights on the dashboard that are accessible from the ECU?

I hadn't thought about it from that perspective because I would just use it for the shift light and not both at the same time. I can see where that'd be confusing. In competition a shift light would be more beneficial to me, and I'd always be a reflash away from monitoring knock. I have more faith in my tuner than keeping my eyes on the tach.

If it's easy to do I'd appreciate it but don't go too far out of your way just for me.

+1 for 94170008

Well, being a long time UTEC user, the flashing CEL is something I really do miss now...

If the car is going to knock it’s going to do it mostly likely during WOT. I’m not sure about everyone else, but during WOT on my car I take a peak my wideband, boost, rpm/speedo. So I think keeping a eye out for a blinking check engine light won’t be such a distraction.

David, tried 88590015 and works like a champ. I tested on a flash that I know knocks pretty well, and it flashed like crazy. Then tested it on a tune that I get a couple counts here and there, and I set it up to only flash on 5 counts or higher. No flash at all, and logs showed highest count was a couple of 3's. So functions perfectly for me.

When I initially flashed the car, I got the blinking CEL for 8 mins. I just drove around with it blinking and it went away. Ive flashed about 5 more times now, and its stayed off. It only blinks that first time to bring the count down like Dave said. I was worried it would do it on every start up or after every reflash, but it doesnt. HUGE THUMBSUP DAVE!!!
