Accel Enrichment Question

I noticed that my accel enrichment was altered by a "tooner". I have a feeling that this was a way of dealing with a new intake (Helix). I assume that this funtion gives a short burst of extra fuel for a certain duration given the RPM.

Does anyone have any advice on this setting and knowledge about the effects of changing it? Is the number a duration or amount? If it is an amount is it a percentage?

My changed setting is on the left the stock values are on the right. Evo 8 94170008.

My first 'tooner' also did that. I'm curious as well.

They were probably confused as to what the lean spool function was doing in the ecu thinking the accel enrich was causing the problem. Or they are having problems setting up the injector voltate latency compensation table up for bigger injectors. I've never had a need to edit the accel enrichment on either my evo or my DSM and the DSM run's 1000cc injectors!

Interesting...I don't even have bigger injectors.

I don't have bigger injectors either. Like I mentioned before I think that this was a way of dealing with a different intake. Not like rescaling the MAF but an attempt other than the fuel map.

I have a feeling that someone out there has a good idea what this table does...

Dan L might have it right.

I just returned the tables to stock and got rid of an annoying over rich during the first hit of throttle . either that or it was the tuners safety feature

but I'm just glad my fuel doesn't drop into the tens when I punch it anymore.

next question : how do you defeat the over rich on throttle lift? coming off high load.

Excellent, I will do that to mine tonight then. I hated that when my AFR's went to 10's.

I recently attempted to help a friend who was tuned by the same "tooner." the Accel Enrich table is the same. His fuel map is covered in 7.6's and it seems that wasn't rich enough, so _____ increased the accel enrichment table as a way to compensate. At least that's how it looks.

I told my friend to get a WB and I'd tune him from scratch. The tune is all retarded ...

I note this once from someone else in my Ecu Bible:
When you open the throttle real quick from low throttle position, say around 15% or so, your letting in more air faster than the ecu can compensate for based on MAF or manifold absolute pressure. This creates a lean condition for a moment until the injectors catch up. If you watch your afr gauge you can see this happening, at a low cruise if you all of a sudden blip the throttle, you'll see your afr jump lean then back to richer. Acceleration enrichment is based off the throttle position sensor so it immediately will add a certain amount of fuel as you hit the throttle to compensate for the rapid change in airflow.

Yea, just think of the 10,000+ evos that have these characteristics. I'm sure that it was due to the limitations of techtom...
