Encrypting for Dealer visits

Now as far as I understand this, all I need to do is change the init code on my ROM and then flash it. When I want to change it back after I get done at the dealer I just use the ECU Unlocker like I do to unlock Vishnu or whoever and then I am back in business as normal. I miss anything else or is that it?

what i dont understand? if you bringing it back to the dealership make it look like you havn't done anything why go and change the code. if you do that they will know you did something and call you out.

I have injectors so flashing it back to stock is not an option. Me leaving it as it is makes it pretty obvious it has been messed with. I post under a nom de plume so I dont really give a flying rats patootie about the dealer. I just dont need them to have any addl ammo to use against me.

That is also my observation and as best I can tell the only thing that has been done to lock the Ecu. I just wanted to cover my bases before I went and eff'd something up.

I'm with lemmonhead here. If they have pulled the tools to look in the ECU and you lock it they will still know something is wrong. If they are going to give you trouble its only going to go downhill from here.

Put the car completely back to stock, flash it back to stock and send it in (even though I don't approve of this behaviour to begin with because this is part of the reason why dealers are so suspicious when cars come in with problems).

First I want to be very clear I do honestly appreciate the input here and I am not trying to be a jackace about disagreeing with everyone.

If it were an option to put it "back to stock", I wouldnt have made this post. There are at least 3 tuners I can think of that lock ECU's that I could blame instantly and the dealership probably wouldnt even blink. I mean my car lost 6th gear, its not related to power production or racing its a freak deal. I am just trying to keep them from reflashing it (which dealers do cause they are so helpful) and then the car running like SHizzle and fouling plugs before I can get it back. I am not trying to be deliberately dishonest about the car being tuned, I am trying to protect it against unknowing sabotage.

When I posted about add'l ammo, that wasnt well thought out. Its not entirely what I meant or how I should have said it. Like I said in that original post it will be come very obvious to them that it isnt stock if they were to link to it and try to flash it.

I hear you John, and if you've found a dealership who when they hit the fact that ECU's been locked and still warranty the work with no issues then rock on. I just think thats a hard pill for them to swallow...especially knowing how some dealers around here will claim changing the recirc valve can hurt your drivetrain .

if thats all you are worried about just put tape over the white plug (near ODB) and write on it DO NOT REMOVE!!!

that way you don't need to specifically tell them - but if they try to flash it as a courtesy then they should see that tape..

Its worth a try, but you might wind up getting a call from the dealership to tell you that your ECU is fried and they just replaced it for you, lol.
