is it safe?
is it safe to run a stock map with a drop in, tbe, and fuel pump? i want to have my already tuned map by dynoflash, and a stock map for road trips n such random things. thanks in advance
There is no reason to keep the stock map. At cruising RPM the car operates in "closed loop," meaning that the tune doesn't really affect anything. You will run at 14.7:1 AFR and at the timing set in your timing maps. The timing should be below 100 load and Al likely didn't touch that area of the maps.
Basically, if you don't run WOT often on road trips the car will operate identically on either map.

DONT do the DYNOFLASH!! you wont be all that happy with it. thats what i did. and people with the same mods as me but with a tune on a dyno are running much faster times then me. save your money and get good tune. thats what im now working on doing.
Obviously getting a tune on a dyno will give you better results. Doesn't mean a mail-in is HORRIBLE. Some people don't have dyno's within a 12 hour radius of their homes, so a mail-in is much more realistic. Mail-in's are a decent starting point for anyone who plans on learning to self-tune in the near future. It gets you in the ball park at least.
i am already tuned by dynoflash, for me i thought he did a great job for a mail in. what didnt you like about it army? i was thinking about logging my car and uploading my flashed map and then emailing it all to mellon so he can see how my .car runs and upgrade the existing tune somewhat, do you think thats a good idea? or a waste of 70 bucks?

plus some of us, dont have a tuner near us, like me, i had to mail my ECU from the middle east all the way to the US, just to be on the safe side with whole bolt ons.
