corrupted dynoflash
corrupted dynoflash
I have a 2003 evo with tbe, fuel pump, intake, and bc and had it dynoflashed through the mail about a year ago. Recently i added a set of gsc s1 cams and a 10.5 hotside w/ 02 housing and had my car tuned. My tune was not able to be perfected because supposedly the ecu or the original dyno flash put on the ecu was corrupted. My tuner was not able to "unlock" the ecu, he was unable to successfully put the new tune on it and it kept showing that it was corrupted. Has anyone else ran into this type of problem or know how to fix it? I used the search but couldnt really find what i was looking for.

if its locked you wouldnt be able to tell if its corrupted.
Al used to lock his flashes by changing the handshake id, but that can be easily unlocked with the unlocker on aktivematrix. Another thing al does is change the ECUID, which causes ECUFlash to load the wrong definition, making it look like the tables are corrupt (at least to a non-programmer). You just need to get the right ECUID, for the ROM you are running.

you get a list of ECUIDs for your model USDM Evo 8.
open up your rom, change the ECUID, save it, close it, re-open it.
check if the tables look right. if any of the tables still look corrupt, try the next ecuid.
do i get a list of ECUIDs when i download the unlocker or do i get those somewhere else?
if you can't figure out this stuff on your own, you really need someone in the area to help you out.
first off, a locked ecu/ and a corrupted ecu are two totally different issues.
so which problem do you have?

this is why you should make a backup of your stock ROM before you have it tuned
or go with a tuner that doesn't do this.

That said do you have anything to contribute that may help this guy?
The ECU ID is obviously wrong. How does one edit this value?

Is there a way to get rid of this handshake so I won't have to run the unlocker first?
I think it is complete and total bull**** that Al does this. I also bought my car that was Dynoflashed. When I went to do some tuning I found it was locked. I right away called the person I bought the car from and they assured me it was Al.
I then called Al up and he said he does not lock them. Now everytime I make a change I run the unlocker. Not really a big deal, but I don't like not having complete control over my own stuff and Al lies directly to me about it.
It is very frustrating.

A lot of guys with earlier cars didn't have the luxury of pulling their maps before sening out the ecu. They mailed them. There were no cables then.

my contribution is to warn people about this so they don't get into this situation. I recommend going to whomever created the rom for the resolution. I think you'll get much further if you're nice about it too.

Sorry to hear you have issues with your ECU. I would definatly trust TouringBubble and Mellon's advice.
