Finally got two qoutes. First one is an authorized distributor of JAE and I would be getting them direct. They are only sold as a full reel which is 7000pins (hence the 7000 in the part #) and a reel will cost $235. Not only that but JAE''s lead time is 12 weeks so it'll be summer by the time I would get them.

Second quote is from a company who found some in stock from a vendor who carries them for one specific customer. They are willing to sell a reel but they want $0.10 ea./pin (yeah...700 bucks). I sent an email asking is they are willing to sell only 200 from a reel, I doubt I will ever hear from them again after they read that, lol.

So.....making another pin work somehow??? Sounds good to me,lol.

We either have to find another ECU that uses these pins that can be found in a salvage yard or finding a pin in the EVO IX harness that can be stolen somehow.

For the cost of one harness, I can get 7000 pins, lol. Those harnesses are like 200 bucks.

...
12 weeks would be May 1. That's not too bad. A reasonable short term solution is to use the Evo 8 pin with a zip tie on the wire as I mentioned in our PMs.

Do you think you can put that to the test and see how well of a connection it really would be for members with , less than adequate IQ's to implement?lol Possibly take a few snapshots??

I think most of the people that frequent the ECUFlash forum are among the most intelligent on this board. Did you ever go through and read some of the posts in the other forums, like engine/turbo/drivetrain, etc?

I just got done 'arguing' in a five page thread with some Buschur fans (and DB himself) about fuel trims and the effect an open breather filter can have on them, and I doubt most of most of them could even spell their own name right based on the horrendous spelling that was in their posts. But since Buschur doesn't have a provision on his turbo intake pipes for a connection, the fanboys were adamant at praising the bad design. Hell, the most common reply was along the lines of 'your mom' or 'your car doesn't run 10s'.

I think I won't even post anymore in any forum but this one. So, I think we are OK with most of the people here at least following directions to your write-up when it is complete. You have to give your fellow ECUFlashers credit.

Are you willing to accept donations to purchase the 7000 pins?

You make a good point and I, since joining this forum, spend 99.99% of my time in this section as well. What I should have said was that not all Evo members are too good with some of the more technical hands-on stuff and if there were too many 'tricks-n-tweaks' to get it to work, that'd be difficult for some guys. If the evo VIII pins are feasible for now and the members are willing to do a little 'rigging' to get it to function on the IX's, cool by me.

ABSOLUTELY! First donation needs to be $235 If I made the harnesses with the pin for the IX's, I'd have to charge at least $10 more each to minimize the financial impact but I'd need to sell like 15 EVO IX harnesses and have them pay me now, then have the people wait unitl May to recieve them. I don't know if that many guys would be willing to way that long after paying for the harness ahead of time.

Personally, I know I'm WAY too antsy when it comes to stuff like this, lol. Thankfully for others it helps me to get things moving very quickly. A blessing and a curse I suppose.

I could always send the evo VIII harness to the evo IX guys so they can rig it for now and I can send them 2-3 pins when they come in (in case they mess up) so they can install the pin themselves, or send back their harness and I would install the pin for them (I think most guys on here could swap out the pin themselves without much difficulty).
