  • Patch is going thru its final testing from various members.
  • Waiting for a bit more info on the EVO IX ecu harness from MRFred (trying to find an evo IX owner nearby to test stuff too)
  • Finishing up a few more tutorials/videos on how to install the patch, install a separate switch to switch maps and a tutorial on how to use the patch with failsafe inputs into the ecu.
Within a week, things will be finishing up on my end at least.

Managed to get a pin out of the Evo IX plug tonight. Its completely different than a pin for an VIII. Pics are below. If anyone can find a source for these pins, please post it up.

plug removed from ECU

secondary restraint released

Found it. Its a JAE part. Its a signal contact for a JAE MX7 cable-to-PCB connector. PN is: MX7-SGC3-7000. There are none of these available in the USA. I just put in a request for pricing on 100 pieces from JAE.

Cross referencing now. I believe the tyco part # is 1852295. Scratch that, Tyco doesn't make an equivalent.

JAE just told me that they only sell to OEMs, and the min order would be 7000 pieces if I were an OEM. RRE sells jumper harnesses for the Evo 9 ECU, so these pins have got to be out there somewhere.

Yeah, its a matter of cross referencing or finding one that doesn't fit EXACTLY, but fits well enough. It sucks because its very close in size compared to the small pins I sent you. Give em a shot, lol.

If there is a wire going into pin location 64, than yes you are all set. If a pin will fit in the stock plug assembly and the plastic retainer will still hold it in just fine, we might be able to find a pin that works. I wish to god I have an EVO IX owner that lived within 15-20 miles of me that actually came on this damn site.

I'm starting to hit up some of these companies:

I already tried Allied Electronics. They are the ones who were told by JAE that the pins are basically only available to OEMs. Allied is trying to get info on the Tyco equivalent, but its not sounding promising. Its going to be a few days before Allied expects a response from Tyco.

Your Evo 8 pins will fit in the plug, but neither the primary nor secondary restraints are effective with your pins.

Still, there has to be a source for these Evo 9 pins because RRE and Boomslang sell jumper harnesses.

Tyco said they offer no equivalent

They might use a different plug assembly. Even the pins I have would work if their plugs accepted those type of pins instead.

This is frustrating, so close yet so far.
