Newbie-Need Help on getting Evoscan 2.1 running

Bought a Tactrix cable, new laptop with Vista, and registered/downloaded Evoscan 2.1 and Ecuflash this past couple of days.

Now, how do you get this thing to even start working/logging.

I plugged in the cable to the ports, start the car, open Evoscan and get this error of not finding port COM1 and a voice message "Link disengaged". It seem to work for about half a second before this error/message comes up.
And this is after I have went back to my laptop control panel device manager and set the "OpenPort 1.3 Mitsubishi (as Serial Port) (COM1)" to COM1.

Am I missing something here?
Do I have the wrong cable?
or setting in Evoscan?
The baud rate in Evoscan is at 15625; does this need to be changed to another setting?

I know there is a thread about Evoscan 2.1 issues but those or more advanced issues. Mine is just on getting this thing to run.

Thanks,
gunhaha

Unfortunately, I only have the latest version, 2.1 as I just registered yesterday.

Is there a way to download the previous version?

The 2.1 shows Evoscan USB Cable as the selected in the device setup.
Do you think the new version will work only on Evoscan cable and not with the Tactrix?

No you dont evoscan will find what port the tactrix is using. The only com port thast needs to be messed with is your wideband port. I am willing to bet both of you have wideband checked without having a wideband hooked up to your PC

Kreonic,

Thanks. Yes, the Innovale LM1 is enabled under the wideband tab. The only way to get it off is to check the Create System debug and Create serial log at the bottom under the wideband tab. I did this and it worked and start logging.
Strange thing is when I close and open Evoscan again, it defaults to Enable that Innovate LM1 line under Wideband tab again. But now it does work and the error does not come up.

Xpro-try doing this and it most likely to fix your problem also.

Uncheck everything on the evoscan list except rpm and see if it connects. If it does, its either the wideband thing (that has caught me off guard a few times) or there is something wrong with one of the other 'checked' parameters on your list. Let us know if you get it to connect.

Yes. I finally get it to connect. You are correct that its the wideband being checked.
I played around the tabs and probably did something that caused all the items to become unchecked and that's when I was able to connect.

Now I need watch this section of the forum to learn the Evoscan functions.

Thanks for the help.

Ok, I'm having similar problems, I get "USB Device not responding". I've got COM 3 checked, BaudRate is 15625, I unchecked everything except RPM and still nothing, so uncheck EVERYTHING and it goes green in the Event log until i check something. I have the new Tractrix 2.0 and its lit up so I know its working, plus when I plug it in to the comp it beeps like new hardware installed. I can use Ecuflash to download but I can't datalog using Evoscan. HELP
