Injector Latency - Warm start problem
Wondering if anybody has experienced this:
I'm having problems with my car starting when the engine is warm (after sitting for 35-45 minutes). It takes around 4 - 8 seconds of cranking before the car will start. If the car is cold it starts everytime with some sputtering. If I start it immediately after shutting off the engine there is no problem. This weekend I will be testing the fuel injectors I purchased from WORKS (780cc) to make sure they aren't leaking internally. I have tried three different injector latencies with no success (see attached). This problem began occurring after installing the following parts:
780cc injectors
FP green turbo
Walbro 255 hp
ported exhaust/02 housing
3" downpipe
GSC S1 cams
Any ideas or thoughts?

My fuel trims were Low: 0 Medium 0 High 2.
I think I may have found the solution.....I just went out and disconnected the fuel injectors from the intake manifold but left them on the fuel rail. When I turned my key to the 'On' position the fuel pump didn't do anything. I disconnected the fuel injectors from the rail and then turned the key to the 'On' position and still nothing!?! From what I know, when you turn the key to the 'On' position the fuel pump should start pumping to put pressure in the lines...right?
I remember my 1999 Civic Si, when I turned the key to the 'On' position I could hear the fuel pump....anybody have an idea?

I actually have the same issue.
It's more like 5 minutes for me though. Like at a gas station. I'd pump E85, go to start it and it wouldn't fire up, i think ppl start looking at me like - "look at the moron, who just put E85 in his car and now it doesn't start"
I think it's a prblem with FPR that isn't keeping the fuel pressure after the engine is turned off. Or maybe it's the Walbro, that isn't keeping it pressurized on the other end. And no fuel pressure -- difficult start-up.
And my assumption is that the fuel pump doesn't pressurize the line with key in "ON" position when the car is warm. Only when it's cold.

I found the problem. After switching my fuel injectors (780cc WORKS) with my brothers stock fuel injectors on his car (also used his latency map) the problem is non existent. I'll have to contact WORKS and see if they will exchange the injectors.

The WORKS injectors look to be PTE so that might help in the exchange process.

another idea
Had similar issue put cossie m3 cams in idled fine with old tune with gsc 280's. Retuned and had idle bumped up also he tuned up the vvt timing at high @1000 to 6.6 while below that was 4.8 I turned it back down and fixed issue. Just my 2 $. Learning curve on those big cams. My idle is set to 970. Hope it may help.

you know what, thats really weird! my injectors are scaled 100 % perfectly, i had socal's best tuner tune my car, i have stage 2 on my evo ix, cams, injectors, supp mods.. waiting for my fp green to come in.... anyways.. when i turn on the car in the morning before i go to work, the car revs high ... to like 3 K which is normal... after 10-15 seconds into the car running, the RPM starts dropping really low and the car dies, and its been doing that for the past 2 weeks.... any suggestions anyone?
Thanks

Well, I received a new set of injectors today. After installing them I went out and did a test with the same results. After taking the car for a ride to get it up to normal operating temperature, I shut it off, waited 45 minutes, and then attempted to start it. It cranked over for about 5 - 8 seconds and then started. I'm completely lost as to what the problem might be.
What's even more frustrating is that my brothers stock injectors work perfectly on my car so it has to be the latency/scaling values that are off.

Do me a favor and log your voltage after the 45mins where you are having trouble starting the car.
Also log your voltage when you have been driving the car, shut it off and turn it back on.
