If you have a free flowing Cat I think you can get away with much more than 23 on everything else that you have listed. I would start in the neighborhood of 25 on a stock turbo with good fuel. Check to see if you can get Vibrant cats there, as I believe they offer a 100 cel.

Other than the cat, I have tuned/logged a local car here on 92 octane that was running 27-28psi even in 5th gear without knock. I have his knock counter set at 4 since he is a friend of mine. The car may be a freak as it is also running ALOT of timing for that boost but its not complaining so far.

hey tephra, what intake mod were you refering to on page 2? and as far as boost, I haven't run higher then 29 psi but thats with a turbo back and meth on 92 oct, but my cars results for some reason i haven't been able to reproduce on another 9 yet.

I could probably eek out another 0.5 to 1.0 psi, but I'd probably have to pull out more timing than would make it worth it. I suspect that switching to the razorlab intake and adding an aftermarket FMIC would allow me to push up to ~22 psi at 7000 rpm. (All this on 92 octane.)

The cat will help across the RPM range as well. You'll be amazed at the improvement in daily driveability.
sorry to go OT a bit, but
mrfred... couple questions reguarding the mil.spec 100 cell cat... Do you have any of the smell people have with a test pipe? And does it make the exhaust much louder? Im considering this peice, but being in Cali, dont know if its worth it to have the extra noise and smell...

Definitely no smell at all. The Mil.Spec cat was installed as the same time as a new DP and cat-back, so I can't say about the sound level except that my setup is stock quiet. Its actually more quiet than stock under some driving conditions.

In tuning 'dude's car, we're able to get 29psi, holding above 22psi until just past 7k rpm with an EVO 8 TME and E85 (GM 3-port + JDM MAP). We're up to 310 load from 3500-5000rpm, but I'd like to see what the IATs are doing between 3-7k (as if I don't know), especially with this factory IC.
Correct. I also have NO cat. And a better IC. But I'm holding a good bit of boost straight thru without issue. That was more the point of my post. I know there are other factors. Just trying to contribute a little.

On your intake temps portion- here's how mine look; approx*

My intake temps at the TB (where the AIT is now) is basically 20-25* above ambient.
20* cruising - or 25-28* sitting for a while. Even during a pull. It stays typically right around 25* above ambient. Back to back to back sees a gradual gain of about 4-7* accumulative as the car heat soaks. Then it plateau's around 35-40*+ until I cruise to cool it down.

If this is about the intake tube itself.
Get new friends...

I think a replacement snorkel into the airbox with larger cross sectional area would be ideal, not seen anyone selling one though.

In all the testing I have done with AIT's, I have found that the intake snorkel in terms of performance made a better beer funnel. Seriously.

I still am continuing to log 7* above ambient, and have tried unsuccesfully to get it any lower than that. I will never put that piece of plastic back under my hood as it actually caused my AIT's to go up 3* more with it in. I think the next step is to cut a hole in the hood, and just mount my airfilter on top of the hood. Maybe like a new school "shaker" style intake scoop.

P.S. I would end myself if I ever did something like that too..

log looks good, you could definitely hit 24psi a lot sooner. You have more room if you want to up the boost a bit.
