Evo's will display random knock much as everyone has already said. Times that are typical are:

Rolling into boost in high gear

Shifting (between shifts)

Part throttle boosting

VTA blow off valves can sometimes stutter enough

A worn out clutch...

The list goes on and on, but I agree with everyone else that the load threshold and knock level are probably too low for "normal" driving". Many tuners tune only for WOT to make sure there isnt any knock and dont worry about the 99% of the time the car is not at WOT.

You very well could have zero knock at WOT when the boost is lower, but when rolling into a MBC and sometimes the factory boost controller will allow overboost and you might be running 3-4psi more than the car was actually tuned for.

I would suggest contacting this individual and allowing him the opportunity to make corrections as needed rather than worry about it online at this point. Part throttle and random knock arent going to cause an engine failure they just arent "elegant" and leave something to be desired. If he doesnt want to take care of it, there are many here that tune for a living that can help you get it sorted.

 

Of course hes running Tephra's mods but did the tuner mess with the Load Threshold or the knock sum for fast and slow flash

 

yeah might not have 2 knock thresholds..

anyways just go back to the tuner and get him to bump the load threshold to 140%...

that is exactly where I get the check engine flash...couldn't describe it better myself...I don't think I am going to worry about this matter anymore as I have talked to my tuner and I am reassured now...thank for all your helps guys...
