Yup, ruins the entire pull. I had a knock sum of 20 counts at 130 load during tip-in today and I started to slowly taper down but I let off obviously. Same with me, if I do a run from 4k and up its fine....only in the 2.5k-3.5k tip-in does it seem to come from nowhere. I personally haven't tried an unmodified 0008 rom to see if it goes away but there are countless people on here that have switched back and the problem disappeared.

Maybe Tephra can mod the 94170008 rom instead and just onstall the P0300 fix into it??

The "Service Engine Soon" light works fine on startup. Is there any other CEL light? I´d really like to have this thing working. Apparently no one else is having this problem so I may just re-check every parameter and go for a full +20 advance at torque peak to see if it works

I might copy/paste my maps back to a 94170008 and see if it goes away, probably not until the weekend though. That would prove a difference right?
And that little pesky p0300 isn't a problem anymore, I think it was periphery 3 bit 4&5 have to be disabled, I know there is a thread mrfred figured it out.

BTW thanks for your great work tephra, donated.
Are you sure that you be the Knock CEL option set to 1 under the list of all the available mods?

Yes. I have re-checked everything today, tested again, no dice. Thanks anyway.

I have a strange issue... I just flashed a friend's car (who previously had 9417008) w/ the 94170014 5.1 that I have on my car and the ICS light just stayed on upon starting it. I couldn't get it to turn off or to switch to alt maps. I shut it down and reflashed. Now the light won't come on! Again, it won't switch to alt maps and the ICS system seems to be totally dead to the switch.

Hey tephra, is there any way that the v5.10 patch on the 94170015 is in-fact screwy and causing the tip-in knock issues for everyone? At this point everyone is mainly focusing on the 0015 rom instead of the 0008 and 0014 roms for their new patches and fixes so I'd REALLY hate to have to go back to an older version.....problem is I'm addicted to your patches, lol.

Did you test it from 2k or 2.5k rpm? Thats where it seems to be the biggest issue with the 0015 rom. Trust me, there are enough people on here with this issue to make it a valid concern at this point. It doesn't happen all of the time either which always makes it fun to diagnose. Its almost as if the ECU gets all confused when switching from closed loop to open loop or something funky.

Jack, I have logged extensively with the 0015 in my 04, no tip-in knock whatsoever. I have tested in every gear, from 2000rpms+.

Your issue is basically at 2000-2500rpms with loads around 100-140? and it doesn´t go away with less timing? That area seems to be a bit problematic as I´ve read people mentioning it´s a "knock-prone" zone in 4G63s. But if your problem is only on tip-in, it may not be related.

Yep, only in the lower load region during tip-in and then it goes away. I have lowered timing a great deal, messed with AFRs and everything else I could think of. I'd consider myself an isolated issue if there aren't a ****-ton of others apparently having a similar occurance. My guess would be a funky knock filter?
