I could be over looking something and I'm happy to do what ever I can to figure it out. I could see the tip-in being tuning, I don't see how the hesitation issues would be tuning related, for me anyway.

I went from the 94170015 rom on the wiki download page to the tephra patched rom. Only changes from "stock" rom at first was the idle RPM. I'm running low boost and the car runs WOT without any knock so I haven't bothered tuning the car. It's just part throttle that is the issue.

No tip-in knock on the stock rom that I was able to datalog, tip-in knock on the tephra rom before and after the changes to try and eliminate the knock. No hesitation on the "stock" rom, hesitation after the patched rom.

I'll see if I can snag a few datalogs from the patched and unpatched roms. It could even be some form of mechanical noise doing it. Without the knock light feature on the Tephra mod, I wouldn't even notice the retard and it literally only sets off a knock count of 1 for 1 sample on a datalog when it flashes the CEL. (which is odd because I have the light set to a knock count of 2).

Just to be clear though, I'm not blaming anybody. Just trying to offer feedback on a free patch (elective donation) for the factory ECU that I find very helpful. I definitely don't mean to blame tephra for any issues. Just going off this little guy.

 

No blame being laid here, just trying to get to the bottom of it. Who better to confirm its NOT the patch coding than the creator himself right?

There are tons of times during beta testing that we';ll simply tell these guys its having a funky issue and within a day or so they usually come back with "I found the problem, try this version instead."

If its my tune, so be it. I will track down a stock 0015 rom so I can datalog the 2 versions and see if there is any change.

 

jack do you know if 5.10 is done for ROM id 96940011? its an 05 id. have stock one if you need it.

 

96940011 doesn't have enough space for basically anything - u can run 96530006 and the only downside is you need to disable the immobiliser.

regarding the tip-in knock - does the car go lean or is it just weird knock?

 

Never had the issue before just the other day I switched to 5.10 and put in the map to maf patch from evoready and bez to get my car to idle again.

I have noticed that at part throttle cruise I have some knock popping up. Granted I just realized that my knock threashold is at 80 but I have never seen the knock cell do a fast blink (8) before this.

Guess I can go back to my old 008

 

no wierd fuel issues but I'm gonna see if timing deviates from the maps.

 

For me its not going lean, kinda during the transition from closed loop to open. It drops immediatly to 12.0 and then lowers to 11.5. Its Just weird knock. and I pulled more timing and it seemed to do it less. I guess for me it was my tune most likely. I can't really compare it to anything because this is the first ROM my car has been tuned with. It always happens more often with 2nd than with 3rd or 4th.

 

well if you have a stock 15 map send it to me (tephra at gmail)

only send it if you know its stock (ie it came out of your car)

I am having no issues with the 5.10 mod no unusual knock tip in or wot. I have been doing logs for the last 3 days even doing tip- in on the freeway 5th gear 3k to 5500. I just did a quick blast aginst my friends 35r 95 tsi, 26.5 psi no knock. LOVE THE MOD.

 

my tephra options has 65535 for all, some have 0 and 1 on other maps, which should it be, does 0 mean off 1 mean on?

 

You need to use the .hex or .bin file Tephra's posted for your rom then copy all of your maps over

 

that and make sure you aren't using any old xml

 

that fixed the problem, does the 1,0 mean activated or deactivated. This is an amazing feature to have and I can not thank you guys enough
