Hello Tephra-

Any idea if you will work on ROM 96420008? I have searched around to see if it was available, I don't believe it is. I'd really like to try your mod out

Thanks!

binky - FYI - 96420007 and 96420008 are apparently junky roms that cause the p0300 error. Mitsu's updated version of this ROM is the 94170015 which people suggest to go to....

EDIT - researched disabling immobilizer and found the 2 threads that seem to help...

I could be wrong i just read in another thread you had to disable the immobilizer. If it works i will just convert it to that rom ID.

Thanks for the info! I didn't know it was a bad ROM.

Is there a place where I can download the new ROM and try it out?

Hi Bink

The 1st page has tephra's additions. The stock rom can be found in any version of ecuflash in the rommetadata folder. Do know that the 015 map in version 1.38 has some weird table called wastegate compensation showing and needs to be deleted from the XML, its discussed in the last 2 pages....

Jack of Trades has tested this v5.10 015 ROM and said its great.

Hope this helps!

This is untrue. 94170015 is the update for 94170008 and 94170014. When I tried 94170015 on an original 96420008 '04 Evo the car would not start.

This is also untrue. The stock ROM can not be found in the rommetadata folder. These are XML files containing definitions for EcuFlash. Stock Roms can be found in the wiki that was started which can be found at http://evoecu.logic.net/wiki/Main_Page

Well, I based this on the searches I made. Some guy said he took his VIII in for mutliple p0300 issues with the 07 and 08 flash by dealership, then the dealer flashed him with 015 to make it go away.

My bad - I assumed he wanted XML file and I called it a ROM. I am a n00b at this, so thanks for schooling me!

EDIT

So, you have an 04 Evo, it seems like...I do too, ignore my username - sold my MR a while back. What ROM do you run in the car, sir?

Hey guys-

After reading through everyone's responses...

I'm still a little confused.

Would trying to run the 94170015 ROM in my 2004 USDM EVO8, be a good idea (the one that is in there now is the 96420008 ROM)?
I assume if the car doesn't start - you can always re-flash the ECU again to go back to the original one. Is it just a matter of trial and error?
