Tunning With A Restrictor

has anyone here ever tried to flash a ecu of a car that runs a restrictor ? does anyone know of anyone who can? I have been preping a evo 8 for rally competition, and the car has to run a 32mm restrictor... a friend of mine made a call to the states to the "best" tunner he knows but he says hes never flashed a car wth a restrictor ..

yeah, i tuned mark berrys F prepared evo which runs a restrictor. i've also tuned our formula SAE cars running restrictors.

the restrictor only becomes an issue when you choke the restrictor up top, and even then the only thing that happens is you wont get anymore air flow (it will literally just stop increasing the airflow rate). when it chokes, the pressure ratios of the turbo will increase dramatically and it will move way out of the efficiency range. it is best to let the boost fall when it chokes or else you will have very hot air.

other then that, tune it like you normally would tune a car.

KevinD,

Did you notice in increase of peak torque at the same boost/timing as before the restrictor?
