Restrictor pills?

I've read something about a restrictor pill having something to do with boost? Anyone know anything about this....is it possible to remove this to improve performance? is it easy?

Also i was told by another evo owner that there is another restrictor pill in the clutch line at the slave cylinder. Anyone know anything about removing that?

Thanks

I believe I read Warrtalon saying that without the pill in the boost line, you can't get more than 11psi...that's all I got.

Chewie, my man, you are killing me with not searching for these well-known and often-discussed topics.

1) There are _two_ restrictor pills in the stock boost lines. Do not touch them in an effort to artificially raise your boost. If you want to raise boost, get an MBC and do it right.

2) Yes, there is a restrictor valve in the slave cylinder that has a small pinhole in it that makes our clutch not engage as quickly as we want it to. It is very common to remove it for more responsive and aggressive clutch engagement. There are write-ups all over the place, but it's very simple. You basically disconnect the slave cylinder, and it falls out from the magical force of Gravity.

There are 2 pills. If you remove the one after the turbo nipple you, will only get 11psi. If you remove the one near the the boost solenoid, boost pressure will increase. The problem w/ doing this, is that your boost control will not be consistent.

The restrictor pill in the boost control line essentially changes the pressure that the solenoid/wastegate sees. With an open line, the wastegate will open at its rated spring pressure. The pill, in effect, allows less pressure to reach the solenoid/wastegate and therefore it takes higher actual boost pressure to activate the wastegate.

I have no information on the clutch line restrictor. My guess would be that works in a similar way to reduce clutch effort, but that's purely speculation on my part.

check www.evomoto.com, in their how-to's they have pictures and instructions on taking the clutch restrictor out. it makes a huge difference. but if you're a clutch dumper, i'd leave it in, only remove it if you know how to slip on the launch or i could see you breaking things.
