Well unfortunately I don't have the SAS hardware because I have the evo 8 US that's why I'm trying to retard the timing more.

90550001 only uses the table at 173e the other table isn't used in 90550001

ok
the table that remains is still -5.1

is this correct??

<scaling name="IgnTimingECUa" units="deg" toexpr="61-x*90/256" frexpr="(61-x)*256/90" format="%.1f" min="-30" max="50" inc="1" storagetype="uint16" endian="big"/>

<table name="Ignition Retard Limit #2" category="Timing" address="173e" type="1D" level="1" scaling="IgnTimingECUa"/>

Hey. I just uploaded tephra v7 9530706 with both of the retard tables from post #74, set the timing to -28.3 in both tables but still -10 is the lowest I get on my logs. Can any one confirm that he got the timing lower then -10 with these tables on that specific rom?

I just attempted to patch this into my 96530706 .xml and can't seem to get it to work properly in EcuFlash. Kept giving me an error when i opened the rom. I tried placing the code in several places and have not had success. Can somebody post the exact code for my rom so i can just paste it in? I'm not sure why i can't get this to work...lol. I'm not usually this bad at this, with as many roms i've modded.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

After reading through this thread 4 or 5 times this evening, I'm a little confused on something. Why, if the majority of the evo8/evo9 roms use 2 tables, does 94170715 only use a single? I'm not a programmer, so I'm lost when it comes to dis-assembly and what-not, but that really makes very little sense to me.

Still having a hard time getting these tables pasted into my .xml without it erroring out in EcuFlash...... can somebody please tell me where i should be pasting this info into the .xml? Seems as though I'm pasting in the wrong spots or in the wrong combination.

Thanks for helping my dumbass out. haha.

care to share the settings? I am running 96260009 V5 and only get a few pops etc, i have drilled out the banjo bolts to 6mm and cant seem to get the ignition retard to go pass -10.

Cheers

Ok...got the .xml patched(thanks to Seijuro) and tried a few settings. Still can't seem to consistently get timing to retard below -10 ,with the exception of a few cells. When i was making adjustments, i set both tables the same. Maybe it's a combination of the two cells that must be correct for this to work properly? I first tried -20.0 in both tables, but was still stuck at -10....then tried 26.9 and that didn't work either.

Any suggestions? I would love to be able to figure this retard limit thing out.

i'm on 96539796 v7 btw.

After doing tons of reading on this subject, it seems there is no workaround for this issue yet. Man, if we could understand what's going on here, in more depth...i think this would be the final frontier for the stock ECU. Being able to retard ignition timing below -10*, no matter the ROM, would allow for a whole host of features that are badly needed.

I wish i knew how to disassemble this myself. I just don't have the knowledge and tools to get it done on my own.
