I have a weird issue. I've run my laptop off battery when logging before, but wanted to log on a long trip, so bought an inverter. When I had it running and went to connect in Evoscan, it won't and get a message about checking cable type and it maybe 2.0 instead of 1.3. I got so annoyed I didn't log the trip. When trying to figure it out, it worked and I realised the laptop was on battery. As soon as I turned the inverter on, Evoscan disconnected and came up with an error ( I'll try and get the exact error details later). The issue is apparently my inverter, but the laptop runs fine doing anything else except connectng to my ecu. Any ideas why the inverter would cause an issue, seems bizzare to me.

Hi everyone!

Two weeks ago, got EvoScanGPS, but still can not connect it.
The device when connected does not recognize the cable (My cable OP2.0 works fine with my PC&Evoscan 2.6), only works from the cigarette lighter, does not save settings - time and so on.
I drive a 2008 EvoX JDM SST, Mod23 is not enabled.

Please help me to set up the device or give a link where to read!

This thread got me started: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...please-13.html

Somebody (not me, I know too little) needs to write a "quick start guide"! This is marketed to the general public but requires an intimate prior knowledge of EvoScan to setup! Simple things like you need to populate the empty "ROM" folder on the SD card or how to locate and install the correct definitions and the fact that you must modify the gauge txt files!

It is a GREAT product, one I would not be without once I got it working with the help of the above mentioned thread, still playing with "Gauge.txt" files though), but it took me weeks (months but that is a different story) of confusion and groping on the dark...what a PIA! Noobs like me be WARNED

Hi All,

I have had no response to my post #1608 end of January regarding the IO8 module Hamish sold me. Is anyone using this successfully?

Surely I cannot be the only person interested or using this device...

Hamish I have not heard anything from you including my PM sent - are you around?

Anyone?

Thanks,
Bill

I'm on the verge of purchasing a Zeitronix Zt-2 and a Evoscan GPS but I had a few questions. Hope this is the right place to ask.

1) I've seen from previous posts that you can display the AFR, EGT, and boost data from the Zt-2 on the Evoscan GPS. But, I was going to attempt to make this an all-in-one setup, meaning I'd also like to input oil temp and oil pressure into the Zt-2. Once I've done this will I be able to display these values on the Evoscan GPS?

2) Will I be able to log my oil temps and pressures via the Evoscan software?

3) As far as a MAP sensor is concerned, should I go the Omnipower root and read/log boost via Evoscan. Or should I tap my manifold and run the Zeitronix sensor, getting the values via the Zt-2?

I was wondering some of these questions too before I purchased as well and I did a little research and here's the deal:

In order to view "accurate" AFR through the evoscan gps you would have to sync/connect directly a "path" through the ecu to the evoscan gps (which is a programming nightmare if your not a pro tuner), however...

A wideband O2 independent hookup like the ZT-2 could be be connected (with some cutting and splicing because of different pin connections) into the gps through the tactrix cable or whatever your using, but it becomes irrelevant because the ZT-2 has it's own LCD screen display (if you decide to buy that as well) which will display pinpoint readings.

I have come to the conclusion that AFR should be a separate monitoring "system" because it is a pretty critical aspect of how your evo will perform (17.1 AFR running different than say 12.5 for track days)

Either way you look at you will need to spend the money on an 02 wideband before any tuning can actually get done the right way

Actually all this info is in the Tuning guides here, and its a piece of cake, 1,000s of people have done it..
http://www.evoscan.com/technical-veh...le-efi-systems

and all this info is in the forums here:
http://www.evoscan.com/gpsnav (click the first link on the page to evox forums)

1) Yes the EvoScanGPS website says you can connect the ZT2 direct to the EvoScan GPS unit.. see here for someone who has done it with how to video and guide. http://www.evoscan.com/gpsnav (click the first link on the page to evox forums)

2) yes you can, this is how I do it on my car.

3) there is plenty of pipes connected to the manifold, just craft knife it and put a a T-intersection pipe, and run it to a any boost sensor, and connect that to the ZT2.

Zt2 is the best wideband choice, and economical, because you can connect oil pressure, oil temp, EGT, and wideband o2 sensor, and boost sensor, all to the one little Zt2 unit. and then you can connect the ZT2 unit via an FTDI COM Serial cable, into the laptop, or into the EvoSCanGPS usb connection.

Thanks for the info, that's exactly what I was looking for. I actually ordered my evoscan gps last Thursday! Can't wait. As soon as I become familiar with it I'll be getting the Zt-2. Thanks again.

Good news Hamish. I've been wanting to log oil pressure, temp & EGT for a while now. those are really the only important values I'm missing from my logging. Since my LC1 just started acting funny I think I'm going to look into getting a Zt2 as its replacement.
