Interesting read but it sounds like they are pulling out of the market of making stand alone nav units, not support for the iphone or am I wrong?

I just checked out Navigon's actual site, it seems as though my assumption is correct. I also looked and found out iGO makes an app for the iphone too! I didn't know that.

yeah 2011 is the first year where GPS is really so cheap it is now in every Android phone! I still like to have a PND physically attached to the windscreen though.. it would be like trying to find the lightswitch on your cellphone.. it just is a waste of time fumbling around. I like to keep my cellphone firmly in my pocket, so I don't have to fumble around again getting it off the dash.

More of my useless in put coming........I bought an $8 iphone holder from Ebay, 4 of them actually. No fumbling, suction cups to the windshield, GPS, texts and music is all right in front of me. Now if you do a datalog app for the iphone that will be right in front of me too.

yeah it looks like the EvoScan iphone app will be the first to support openport1.3U and openport2.0 cables too, straight from the apps store without jailbreak.. yippee. but not wifi. who cares, everyone wants it charged anyways, can't break away from cables just yet

What does that mean for the (larger market share ;p) Android version? Will it need root? Or is it just a matter of available coding time prioritization?

iPhone and iPad is just like McDonalds, you know exactly what you are going to get.

Android is like going to another city and ordering from a local takeouts shop, you have no idea what its going to be like. Thats why reading all the reviews on the different Samsung Galaxy models are so important

Can anyone give any feedback on the Lap Timer function of the EvoScan GPS Nav unit?

I have a trackday coming up in a couple of weeks and was wondering how well the Lap Timer works.
