new mod feature - thoughts required

Hey Guys,

Would you be happy with a fast CEL flash if the following conditions were met:

* load above threshold (200 say)
* AND afr > threshold (11.8 say) OR AFR < threshold (10.5 say)

That way if you are high load and your AFR isn't within the range you
expect you will see a fast CEL?

Thoughts? Good idea or not bother?

Also is it worthwhile adding something like a boost drop (to wastegate pressure)
into that as well?

Its a fairly easy addition code-wise, and of course you WILL need to have your WB02 hooked upto the ECU..

Cheers
D.

Fo sho. Personally I would set it a little more conservatively, maybe like 13.0 afr or something....I like the idea of the boost cut too!

It's worth trying!

yeah well as always the thresholds will be customisable - so it will be upto the user to set them.

its more of a safety/warning system.

I had a friend that blew his intake hose off and ran on the track lean and then proceeded to lunch his motor... he didn't know - this would have saved him.

Yeah mate great idea Is it possible to maybe output to unused ecu pin to drive to different light? That CEL is getting kinda busy with mod responses.

Great idea none the less and all the more. I would definitely use it. Any warning or failsafe to potentially save the motor is a good thing.

PS Sorry to hear about your friend

Absolutely. I agree that an output for a LED would be cool too.

Bad idea.
I think users with E85 have problems with an CEL at 11,8AFR.
And why you need an CEL at 200 load?

Well I figure FAST CEL FLASH can be a sign of something REALLY BAD.

so high knock - or outside WB parameters ...

I dunno how its a bad idea? It will be user set, so set it to whatever u want.....he was just posting as an example. The 200 load is a threshold meaning over 200 load this will come into effect.

Great idea....I like the boost cut idea, nothing says problem like boost falling to wastegate pressure - and the fast cel isn't a bad option to have with it as well.

tephra i am not sure if you saw my post about maybe using an alternate output if available for triggering something like warning light or audible warning device.

Personally I'd be interested in knowing what other alert options were available. I've already pretty much hardwired my brain to CEL flash = knock, so it would be nice to receive AFR problems via a different channel.
