Tephra,
Off-topic but is it possible to get the ipw adder table as an alternate map added on this next release? They differ a lot for cold starting and to have true switchable maps from e85 to gas I think this would come in handy?

Hey Guys,
Would you be happy with a fast CEL flash if the following conditions were met:
* load above threshold (200 say)
* AND afr > threshold (11.8 say) OR AFR < threshold (10.5 say)
That way if you are high load and your AFR isn't within the range you
expect you will see a fast CEL?
Thoughts? Good idea or not bother?
Also is it worthwhile adding something like a boost drop (to wastegate pressure)
into that as well?
Its a fairly easy addition code-wise, and of course you WILL need to have your WB02 hooked upto the ECU..
Cheers

Going lean would/is a very rare occurrence. It is deserving of something invasive so that if it is a bright day, on a racetrack, with your helmet on. you'll know when the BCS goes to wastegate pressure. Also at 12psi (wastegate pressure) you really won't hurt the motor by going lean. If I am truly lean, and code is perfect every time, I WANT WANT WANT the car to pull out as much boost as possible. At 12psi, even going mid 13's AFR, you really aren't going to hurt anything.
If your going lean, and you put a stupid blinkey light in front of me while I'm carving corners in my favorite backroad, I'll be running 25psi for 12 minutes till I realize their is a problem. I won't have seen the flashing light, instead I'll pull the car over when I notice that smoke is coming from the engine bay.
At any rate, I like the slow/fast for different amounts of knock. When tuning I'll pay attention to the CEL and let out if it goes to fast knock (6 counts on my car) as compared to slow flash (1 count).

As far as outputs goes I'm unaware of anything that can look at the switching HZ of a signal and set a set of outputs for different Hz's. I'm sure their is something out their, but I'm unaware of anything. What could work though is if you have two ecu outputs you can easily build a chip to set gates based on the 4 different combinations (counting 0-3 in binary) that this could set. With three outputs is 0-8 decimal. No matter what you use though its a wiring nightmare.
I think that the idea is good! However, I think that shiftlight might be more useful for me because I use an external EBC.
My Evo IX had a bulb already in the Water Sprayer Icon, so I can use that one for AFR warning or shiftlight. Maybe a selectable output options like Hondata where you can select from available outputs/inputs.
For example on my Civic, my Wideband is read thru the ELD (Electric Load Detector) cable and the NOS is triggered by a spare output on the ECU. All of that is selectable from the software.
I agree with the rest of the folks... my mind is hardwired to CEL = Knock.
Just my 0.02!

water spray Icon is impossible to see, + all evo's dont have it
I will see if the oil light is wired to the ECU - that could be a good option.
OTHERWISE I think using fast cel flash to indicate ANY type of BAD problem is probably the best idea.
I can include wastegate pressure as well...
I will see about doing the IPW_adder altmap as well.

Maybe set it up so that the user can check either CEL fast flash or wastegate pressure or both? That way the guys with EBC's can still have a fast blinker lights and morons like me can keep from grenading the motor?
EDIT:
Pretty soon its going to be like the engine room in star trek with ****ing lights, horns, and steam valves going off when **** hits the fan.

Boost cut. The reasons are many. The problem with a CEL flash is that I just don't really care about it. Many times I don't even see it. I have my CEL flash at 1 count.

Truth....nothing says something is wrong than boost plummeting to catch your attention. That is something you don't need to see or hear, you will FEEL it.
The boost cut will only work for people running ecu boost so there should be an option for those who have mbc's and ebc's like a flashing cel, so im all for this mod to be user programmable for either or....
It may not be wired, but I would think that all clusters may have the Icon. (I have no confirmation on this thou
)
Just need to wired it back to whatever pin on the ECU.
Anyway...... On the other side, oil light sounds a better solution. lol

Right now we have:
Fast flash = bad knock
Slow Flash = mild knock
Constant CEL = read the damn code...
Perhaps the AFR warning could be "fast fast slow .. fast fast slow .."
After we solve the light issue the next problem becomes which warning takes priority? If this something that would be user defined or would it be hard coded and we would just need to be aware of the precedence?
I like the idea but let's make sure we do it right.
