hrmm - well it was a timed event ... supp regs said its not a "race" which i told the insurer but they consider it "offroad" so bad luck

anyways I talked to my shop, they havn't given me a firm figure yet, but they are leaning towards "unrepairable"

in a **** mood today

Ouch man, sorry to hear that!

Best bet in to pick up a shell I guess, gut yours out and there you go.. Even if the valves hit the pistons, then its just an excuse to do some drop in pistons and rods... swap it all over and your back on the road again!

Let us know what you need, so you and your work are HUGE benefits to the evo community, the least we can do is help you get back in an evo!!

looks good.

unfortunately with the aussie dollar the way it is + shipping costs + LHD -> RHD conversion I think its going to be too expensive

Ouch, so you're definitely on the hunt for a shell, then? Any domestic leads on a new chassis?

(I shudder to think what the transport costs would be to get one from anywhere but Australia. At least shipping from Japan ought to be simpler than shipping from the US, and you wouldn't be stuck doing a LHD->RHD conversion.)

no I think reshell is out of the question as well.

just too much damage...

I am looking at X's now, need to stay in the family if u know what I mean

^ that may sound like I can afford it, but really its going to be another lease. so not much capital expense (except for paying out the IX lease )

Sorry to hear!! Even if you could re-shell it, often it's cheaper and less hassle just to buy/lease another Evo, and part out all the parts from the old one.

Glad to read that you are fine and the car not so fine, but been a big fan here in the USA of your work. Guess will be seeing you finish off V6 and starting on the Evo X tunning soon.
