If you want one and only one good bang for buck mod, always always get the tune

Actually, Only do the TBE. Don't do the mbc if your not gonna get a tune. Reason, you won't know how much your boosting. That could effect your cars performance drastically.

Other then that, it was a good question. Do you have 1k now or plan on upgrading little by little? If you plan on upgrading little things at a time, start with;

1. Turbo Back Exhaust
2. Boost gauge
3. Manual Boost Controller/Tune

You'll have to look into upgrading the fuel components as well.

why bother with the MBC at all then?

tune is going to be better than an MBC.

if you ONLY had 1k, that's not really enough for a TBE + tune.

If you had a bit more then yes TBE+tune.

I think I was misunderstood.

First off GRN yea the MBC was just thrown in there because the term tends to get attached to typical list of "first mods" but with a tune and basic mods no need.

My point was that if he can only do one mod, it should most certainly be a tune. If he can do one mod now and then another mod in a few months or whatever, he should start with the turboback so that the tune will match his application.

MOST IMPORTANTLY- No one should modify a turbocharged car at all without a boost gauge. Whether it's a $50 AutoMeter or a Defi with Link unit, do that FIRST.

This is what I would do:

1) get a off-the-shelf tune - that should give you a lot more useable power right now, and it should be pretty cheap since its just a cookie cutter tune.

2) save up for the TBE + UICP + real tune

Yea, he could do this. Wouldn't the LICP be better then the Upper? If he had to choose. As for the MBC, Tephra is right. You don't need it to adjust boost, you can do all that in the tune, but you'll need a few more things.

What are you trying to achieve here? Just get the best performance for 1k? If thats the case, get a cheap/used exhaust, cheap mbc, cheap boost gauge and a meth kit. Get tuned and call it good. I would recommand 4ws, mellon, or english racing for flashes. Thats just my opinion.

Yes, the TBE is a bolt on. For the most part, I think the old buschur ones were clamped on at some areas. As for your JDM bumper, I would figure most would fit. I think there is a thread here somehwere with jdm bumpers and exhaust fitments with pictures.

Also, when you get a tune. Make sure you have your tuner add the tephra mod!!! NLTS WHAT!
