I am pretty sure when it connects to the car it records which car it is, you can transfer it to another car AFTER you have told the AP to return the original car to stock..

So in answer to your Question - no you can't run multiple cars with it at the same time...

So in order to be sold or bought you need to be sure the old owner returned his car to stock? Im just wondering if I should buy it new or borrow one .

Well you can't borrow one - as when you return it you will need to also untune your car.

Not bashing the product, but why don't you go for a proper dyno tune?

Cobb calls it "marrying" and "un-marrying". Once the unit is "married" to your car, it cannot be used on another car. To properly sell the AP it would need to be "un-married" from the original install, which returns car A to its original tune (not necessarily the OEM tune, but the tune in the ECU when it was "married" to the AP).

You are basically buying the AP unit and paying a one-time fee to lease the tune that is contained within the AP. You don't actually own the tune, just the AP unit - in my opinion. Use of the leased tune travels with the AP unit.

My concern would be buying (or selling) a used AP on-line, or even on this Forum, and then finding out the AP was not "un-married". You would have just bought an expensive paper weight!

There is a Cobb AP forum and there is a guy from Cobb tunning there that can help you, try posting there. When I started modding my Evo I wanted to get an AP but decided not to and learn, that way when I change parts in my car I do my own tunning, plus there are lots of mods that can be done with ecuflash. Why spend 700$ on the AP when you can get all you need to tune for less and learn at the same time.

I believe COBB is soon to release their "AccessTuner" software. From their website:

"AccessTUNER Race is COBB's end-user engine tuning software that gives owners of the AccessPORT the ability to tune their vehicle for their immediate needs. The software can be used for intenstive tuning in a controlled environment"

I downloaded the Beta version for the X.
