Timing/Fuel map for Reverse Gear ?
Timing/Fuel map for Reverse Gear ?
I seems to run into a strange problem. When I'm in gear, everything is perfect. However, when I'm in Reverse, the idle drops and car seems to choke .....
Is there a seperate map for Reverse ?

Interesting question. Does the idle drop as soon as you put the car in reverse (without attempting to backup)?
Mine's the autobox (Airtrek Turbo). It's only when I'm backing out.
Strangely, today, getting out of a tight parking lot, I run into similar symptom while inching out and reversing (multiple times), and it happened in forward gear too.
Luckily I was logging and I saw the rpm dropped to 400-500 and timing dropped to 5 ! Just 1 to 3 counts of it and it's back to normal.
Could it be a cold-engine problem ?

5* is probably the amount of timing the engine runs while cranking. There is a map for timing addition while in gear at below ~1500rpm but this doesnt sound like the problem.
What you should be doing is to let the system re-learn the idle step offset (something I have been trying to track down how to log). If you disconnect the battery, or sometimes after a detailed flash, the idle needs to be re-learned. It (for only god and the mitsu engineers only knows why) starts as a very low number so the idle hangs low for a few mins while it gradually steps up to normal. You just need to start the car and let it idle warm for around 10 mins to learn its new offset. Now 10 mins again with the A/C on, 10 mins again with the car in gear, and once more again with the car in gear and the A/C on. A long process, but it should fix your problem.
If it doesn't, then you have bigger problems.
