Timing Question:)
Timing Question:)
Well im pretty sure im on the right track now that i have a better. Base map.
I finally did a pull, and loged my car with mitsulogger.
Their is a little bit of knock not much at all only a few 1s and almost no 2s.
My question is
if my timing map says 15 and on my log its pulling 3* of timing.
To fix this would 15 now be around 16?
Or would it be around 14?
When it pulls timing in + its adding and when its - timing its subtracting correct?
Thats all for now
U guys

Thanks

If the ECU is pulling timing you need to lower the numbers in your table. Sometimes you can get away with dropping it less than the ECU does, but knock= you need less timing/more fuel
I have read the ECU pulls (subtracts) 1 degree of timing for every 3 counts of knock. You are saying it is 3 degrees off. There are other factors that cause your logs to not reflect map timing at given rpm and load.
FYI, you can think of timing is the amount of degrees of crank rotation before TDC that the spark is fired.
There are alot of things that can affect actual vs set timing. Tune for actual, not for set.
