P0603 Error
SES P0630 Error Need advice please
Ok I tried the search and came up with brief description of the actual SES/OBD code and it sounds ECU related.
P0630 VIN Not Programmed or Incompatible - ECM/PCM
Hopefully it is not major.
Anyone seen this or have any ideas on how to clear it or to fix it?
I did try to reset the code with Scantech but it reappears right away. I will try to disconnect the battery tomorrow to see if that helps.
Any insight would and will be appreciated.
Thanks

Yes I bought the car about 5 months ago. It had a tune on when I got it. Once spring came around I took it out of storage. Tried to get into the ecu and it was a *****, took like 40 tries to get it to connect to ecu flash, even with a brank spanking new battery. Finally got in and put the V7 in right away. Everything was fine for a few months. I was doing some more tuning yesterday and all the sudden a few hours later the CEL came on.. This thing will not go away, tried everything. Went back to original rom, pulled battery, tried to clear it. Nothing it won't even go away for a second.
Hmm, try reading out the ECU flash and saving the file. Use a hex-editor to compare the read file with the file you programmed to the ECU last. In theory, the files should be identical. This will at least verify that the process of writing the ECU is not the root of your problem. After that, may want to be sure your immobilizers code is correct? Make sure your rom id is correct? After that, if it doesnt go away after a few days, you may have an honest hardware failure. Im kinda leaning toward the hw failure, since you said you got the code after going to the original rom.
Ok, wait, Nasty Evolution are you getting the P0603, or P0630? I thought I was crazy at first, I just realized that the OP was asking about 0630, but the title of the thread is 0603. I think i need to go to bed now
Yes the p0630 is a VIN mismatch and the Dealer simply flashed the proper VIN back in. This was caused by a Cable disconnect during a flash or bad EcuFlash in general. The car ran fine it was just the CEL that drove me nuts. Yeah the thread title might have the wrong code
The 603 code does appear to be memory related but I have no clue as my error was the 630 not the 603
PS the dealer did it for free

The VIN is parameter based, Im guessing. Usually the VIN isnt part of the flash. I dont think you could fix that with ECUFlash. You'll probably need a mitsu scantool. There will be a function like "program ecu vin" or something. Like he said though, if the dealer will do it for free, why not go for it. That is assuming you have the P0630 (not P0603). I am basing my advice off working experience with hacking Dodge and Nissan ECUs. Unfortunately I havent had the pleasure of doing a lot with ECUFlash, when you do this stuff for a living, kinda makes it hard to work with it on your own car.
I'm running a completely different ECU in my EVO. My factory ECU is sitting on the shelf. I've never had this issue. Though I have had the hard to connect issue. I've found starting the car and then commencing the flash allows it to work every time the first time.
