What is the "MAF ADDER" value in the 3G roms that works in conjunction with your MAF scaling?

The 3g's are all using the evo rom's. You can even flash a 3g ecu with an evo rom. Easy upgrade. I actually use an evo 7 ralliart ecu havn't even looked at a 3g rom in years.

Ahh, I think I read that the 3G MAF is actually the exact same as the Evo MAF too right?

the 3g maf is smaller, i had to put 257.7 in for maf size where the evo ecu had 357. but the wire harness is the same.

pistons an rods $670
Clutch $330
Turbo-Back Exhaust $150
1000cc Injectors $290
water/Meth injection $300
Ive been saving up so i can do this during winter break, my budget is around $2500. I might have to wait on doin the head swap or built head. And i will be doin all the work with help from my dad so labor is free. I might be getting a evo8 with only 30k on it for $500. A kid i know totaled it trying to do 105 around a corner an smacked a tree, it took the back end of the car off. hes keeping the motor for another evo8 he found that doesnt have a motor but it has a tranny.

Does the 3G ROM use that 257.7 value for the MAF size? Do you guys have a 3G rom you could post??

I cant read my 3g ecu its a 2000. Idk thats what i read over on club3g.com, that the size is 257.7.

so i figured out why the ecu is pulling timing only sometimes. Its when my lifters are ticing bad, so when i first start driving its the worst so the ecu reads knock and pulls the timing so much ive recorded -7 at 2500 rpms, 60 load. But once im driving for a while the lifter tic goes away and i can hit the same cells and no knock because the ecu isnt pulling the timing. So how do i stop the ecu from reading the lifter tic as knock?

You need to have your lash adjusted on your head the Service Manual outlines the procedures for adjusting them on the 3rd gens. Also the evo ecu pulls timing until the car is warmed up.

Besides the obvious answer of cleaning or replacing the lifters, you would need to raise the values in the knock multiplier table in the LOW or MID sections to raise the 'acceptable' noise floor limit. I wouldn't suggest raising the HIGH section though. There is also a table which you can raise the 'ignore knock sensor below this load value' but I believe it only ignores the knock sensor up to a low load value.

I thought all the 2G guys switched over to the 3G lifters to eliminate lifter tick?? What motor oil do you run currently?

From what ive read all 3g have or get bad lifter tick. Maybe the new ones made by mitsubishi for 3g's are better or maybe the aftermarket ones are good. I have a stock 2000 4g64 SOHC block and head, for now.

Where are the knock multiplier tables in the ecuflash .hex or the actual .hex file?

Its not realy if the motor is warmed up or not its the oil pressure, i can let the car warmup and still have bad lifter tick untill i start driving around raising the oil psi.

They're non adjustable hydraulic lifters aka lash adjusters. I would suggest to the OP like someone on here already to clean the lifters. Its actually pretty dam easy, i do it every couple of months on customers cars. And jack of trades got it right, all the 2g guys who hate lifter tick upgrade to 3g lifters since they're not suppose to tick (although some still do). I had a lot of phantom low and midrange knock and raising the value in the knock multiplier tables worked wonders for me.

lmao in an evo they are in an eclipse sohc they are adjustable. Funny that you think 3g lifters mean they come from a 3g eclipse. It's just the 3rd generation of the lifter. If you take a sohc apart you would see the two have nothing in common.

Ahh completely forgot he had a SOHC, so he has to reshim them? Weird haven't heard of many hydraulic lifters that were adjustable. And 3rd generation lifters were implemented from 99-? So i assume most mitsus after either have 3rd or better gen lifters.
