EVOscan.... other loggers work better?

Hey guys,

I have been trying to use evoscan, but I pretty much end up with gibberish instead of useful data. What are my other options? This is on a 2010 Ralliart BTW.

I think you need to mod your EvoScan XML definitions to work for the Ralliart as well, like GST did for you with EcuFlash.

Is it as simple as taking that same XML file I used in ECUflash and putting it into the EVOscan xml file area? If so, I will do that and see if I get real data.... I am dying to see what my system is doing with all my mods and totally untuned.

Hi Keith,

I believe it's the same type of changes that need to be made to the EvoScan XML defs, but the EvoScan XML defs are different, so unfortunately it's not as simple as simply dropping the EcuFlash XML defs into the EvoScan XML directory.

you also need mode 23 logging enable, which Bryan said he didnt enable, cuz he/we dont have the correct address yet.

This was on the second page of my first thread here... that is the ROM I currently have loaded into my ECU... am I mistaken about thinking I have mode23 enabled?

Did you do all this?

Use EvoScan v2.6 Full : http://www.limitless.co.nz/

Download, install

Once in EvoScan:

1. Select "OpenPort 2.0 (J2534/CAN/EvoX)" radio button
2. Select "CAN 2006+/EvoX" check box
3. Under the "Select ECU" Drop-down, select "mode23 USA RA EVOX"

Check off only these parameters to log:

Throttle Posn
2-Byte RPM
Load (Fuel)
TimingAdv
Knock Sum
PSIG
ActiveWGDC
Intake Air Temp
Manifold Air Temp
Coolant Temp

And if you have a wideband, connect it to your laptop and check off the wideband logging in EvoScan.

The best logs would be a full RPM sweep of 3rd and/or 4th gear on a level road. Log the car in Sport Mode so it won't shift on you.

-----------------------------------------------------

If so, and you still get gibberish the 2010 might have different addresses for logging that we would need to figure out

OK, set it up exactly as you describe. Also in the lower right there are options for "Select DTC Method/ECU:" I have it set to "CAN EFI"

Here is a rundown of what I get when I log as configured above:

TPS . . . . . . . . . . reads 86 sometimes flipping to 86.50588
2 Byte RPM . . . . reads 0
LoadFuel . . . . . . reads high 800's at idle almost 9000 at WOT high RPM
Timing Adv . . . . reads 10 at idle seems to very with load and RPM
Knock Sum . . . . reads 16 at idle, jumps up light load to 144 or 128 heavy load = 0 at low RPM then jumps to 240 and tappers down toward redline to 144
PSIG . . . . . . . . . reads -3.76242 under heavy load, -13.1457 at idle
Active WGDC . . . reads 0 all the way
Intake air temp . . reads 179.6 all the way
Manifold air temp . reads 258.8 all the way
Water temp . . . . . reads either 104 or 113 (flipping back and forth) all the way.

Makes it a bit hard to data log

If Mode23 is indeed enable on your ROM, then the Mode23 lookup addresses are most likely wrong for your ROM. Try making your ROM available and see if somebody can find the right addresses..

I also cleaned up Tephra's Mode 23 Command Line logger and it became the "EVOXLogger" - you can download it from http://newhope.homelinux.com/~gdaswani/evoxlogger.zip - it requires the .NET 3.51 SP1 framework.

You still need to modify the monitors.config and add the proper addresses for your particular ROM though. I guess it aint' the same as the 2009 USDM Ralliart.

Bryan from GST is hosting my stock 2010 ROM here:

If anyone can help out with logging using it feel free!

Thanks,

Keith
