88590015 fuel maps

hi guys,

am i blind ?!?!

why is the Low Oct Fuel Map LEANER than the High Oct Fuel Map for this ROMID?

Nope your not blind. And yes, I remember seeing the low octane leaner than the high octane a long time ago, but I had no idea why it is that way =/. But surely the Mitsu engineers must've thought it through when they made it that way??...I dunnooo...Lol

yeah they probably went " hrmm need a bit more fuel for low-oct, +++ on the keyboard.. yup that looks ok "

ok - hope to have a new test version of 88590015 for u chaps after lunch got a few more budding testers so i reckon a weekend release is a good chance

It has definitely always been this way. You may want to ask mrfred about it... i believe he had some explanation (or at least I know I've seen one here somewhere before).

I believe it has to do with the fact that when you get on the low octane timing and fuel map, the timing map has a lot of timing is pulled, so then needed to make it leaner, so EGT stay in check............

You'd be surprised how many engineers I know that don't have a clue about cars, and the concept of stoichiometry

...and this is coming from the FormulaSAE club, lol. Glad I'm tuning their engine...

I always figured that low octane probably cut lean spool feature. But always kinda wondered myself.

I was about to start a thread about the Evo9 maps, before I saw this thread.
I'm trying to use the 9 maps in a earlier rom, but am a little confused.

The Evo9 LowOct map is richer at low rpms, but leaner at high rpms.
Is this for EGTs like stated ealier, or is there another explanation?

Are tuned maps usually the same way? Or do they make everything richer?

Also does the Ignition WarmUp Trim actually subtract 30 degrees?
Most of the roms I've looked at only subtract 10 degrees.
With -30 degrees, you would have like zero degrees in driving area, seems like it would make the car undriveable when its cold with so little timing.

I think the engineers were drinking too much Sake the night before or perhaps during work. That does explain crankwalk.

Thanks for any info.
Drive around with an unplugged MAF and it will be at 1-2*. Believe it or not it drives pretty well. That being said I think that is in an imaginary number becuase I have never logged anything remotely close to -30 timing pull.

0xDEAD--- I agree it was sake, a trip to the karoke bar, more sake, a strip club, more sake, then back to the office.
