can anyone help?

ok i have a problem which may seem simple to those who have been using ecuflash and evoscan for a while. im new to this car and this software although im not new to tuning.
my problem is this,my ecu is 96940013 and of course ecuflash doesnt recognize it. now i have another file for 11 but im not sure exactly what the next step is.
my goal is to be able to read what i have, and tune the timing and fuel maps a bit.
so what do i do? and please tell in detail as i am new to this

Okay, I'm looking a bit through the differences between 96940011 and 96940013; at a minimum, your high- and low-octane fuel and timing maps should be just fine if you copy the XML for 96940011 to 96940013, and just edit the two lines near the top to reflect the different version. In fact, so far every table I've checked (just the Fuel, Fuel Lean Spool, and Timing sections so far) has been correct.

Interesting, the rev limit changed: from 0x3C1 (7804) to 0x3DA (7606).

Looks like most of the MUT addresses even stayed the same. Nice, this should be easy. FYI, the MUT table is at 3F37C.

Just make sure the map tables are the same or if not, copy them over and reflash it. Your ecu should be able to accept the new rom. It should run good.

I attached a zip file in the post I linked to above. Unzip it, and you'll have a file named "96940013.xml". Put that file in C:\Program Files\OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata\mitsubishi\evo. Once you've done that, you should be able to read and modify the ROM already on your car, no other changes required.

At that point, you're at the same place most folks are when they first get started with tuning their cars; a good place to start would be reading up on some of the more useful threads here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ec...ead-links.html

aryder: That would only matter if he's switching to another ROM (like 96940011 or 96530006); there's no reason for him to bother with that right away, now that we know the tables are basically the same between 96940011 and 96940013. He can worry about switching to another ROM later, when he gets his feet wet.

Yes, you should definitely make a backup of that ROM file somewhere. It contains one very important piece of information: your immobilizer code. If you do nothing else, be sure to at least write that down somewhere.

To find it, open the ROM up, go to "Options", go to the "user level" section, and choose "Developer". You'll probably need to restart EcuFlash for this change to take effect. Once you've done that, reopen your ROM, navigate down to the "Misc" section, and check the checkbox next to "Immobilizer". It'll open up a small table, with a hexadecimal number printed in it: that's your immobilizer code.

Write that down somewhere, and don't give it to anyone either. It's tied specifically to your key. But also, definitely make a backup of your ROM somewhere; it's always handy to have a stock image to go back to.
